TLDR: Carmen rocks. Seriously. Long Version: I really don't like buying furniture at all. It's often a tedious process that ends in regret. That end table you once loved is now a thing to step on because it's too cold to get the ladder from the shed. I'd argue it's just me, as I'm sure there are folks who think it's the best thing they could be doing. I won't argue it. Anyway, my daughter's old bedroom set got older. Plus, she isn't a kid anymore and needed an update to her room. Also, I needed to replace some things around the house. I put off the project for about 3 months until my daughter reminded me that I promised to get her a new bedroom set (I need to stop promising things). I found a bed she loved at Ethan Allen and proceeded to do what I always do: hurry up and get it before I realize that I'm shopping for furniture. I added some other items to the cart, clicked "buy!" and felt proud of myself. In my case, that was a mistake. I then tried matching colors, hues, and such and realized that I should stick to the few things I'm good at. I had a few other pending purchases since a bed in a room is like a prison. My wife, noting my struggles, decided that I was doing something pretty dumb and decided to go to the Ethan Allen showroom near 14th street in Manhattan. She made a wise choice. The short version is that she met Carmen and got a lot of help figuring out what else we should do. In addition, she helped me fix a lot of the silly things I did with my online order. She then proceeded to work magic so that we could get our stuff in the right shipment. She also helped us pick out other items that would go with our bohemian (I'm being polite) living room. If we called about an item, she returned our call the same day with information and advice. Which included "nope!" in cases where we were making another mistake. I'll say that the service Carmen provided was like that of a wise third party. You may well know fully what you want to do with your space, but having someone who can coordinate the shipments and advise based on your taste and current decor is invaluable. You know what you want, but do you know if there's something better? Do you really know all of your options (you don't)? Do you honestly feel like trying to work out a dozen pieces of furniture into one coherent space? If you do, you should still give her a call. It costs you nothing and at best you'll get help coordinating shipping and such. If you don't, you really should give her a call because she's very good at what she does. Take it from me. I hate writing online reviews, and I just wrote one because she really helped us out. I genuinely appreciate it. My daughter loves her room again, we have a better chair to relax in, that ugly thing in the hall is gone, and the Mansfield sofa is exactly what I was looking for. There's more in there, but you get the point. I'm no longer buying a thing for the hall because it's a hall and needs a thing. I bought something I really wanted. She let me know which ones worked based on our taste. The point: Let Carmen manage your project. She made things I loathe -- furniture shopping, writing online reviews, and falling down flights of stairs with furniture -- painless. Stop reading my nonsense and call her. That's it.

I was looking for a sofa and an armchair for my bedroom and happened to walk into Ethan Allen. Since I was just glancing through the showroom floor quickly, I was ready to leave not finding what I was looking for. I was approached by Carmen and ended up purchasing everything from Ethan Allen. She was attentive, patient and enthusiastic about my project. I found working with her surprisingly pleasant since the encounter and the consultation was not expected! I would love to work with her again! She's a gem.

My husband and I were in the market for a sectional and a rug when we met Ms. Caceres. She was one of the best sales persons, we have ever encountered. Not only was her knowledge of the merchandise, pricing, shipping, computer program excellent, but she was a delight to work with. In addition, she has a decorator background and was able to help us to figure out the sectional fabric, pillows and rug so that they all worked wonderfully together. I can't praise her strongly enough and because of her, I have been recommending Ethan Allan to my friends. She is a gem!
