Sheryl VanderHelm is the founder and lead designer of VanderHelm Design. Sheryl's passion for Interior Design began at an early age, fueled by a natural talent to create beautiful, livable, timeless interiors that reflect the client's style. At eight years old, Sheryl knew Interior Design was her life's calling. In 1992 she obtained a degree in Interior Design and began her career as a lighting designer in the San Francisco Bay Area. VanderHelm Design was established in 1999, and continues to serve residential and commercial clients throughout the Central Valley. VanderHelm Design has been featured in several Decorator Show houses benefiting Hospice of Modesto. VanderHelm Design transforms spaces beyond clients' dream places!

She helped me with interior as well as exterior house colors, and I’ve gotten so many compliments on the color choices, which I give her all the credit for! Sheryl has been a delight in my home and helping me see other ideas. I loved how I was able to use my current “things” and she suggested fabrics, colors and wallpaper to pull a lovely theme all together. She makes her clients her priority and was always on point with budget and even found ways to put in an elevated timeless yet trend that was glamorous it it’s own transitional vibe. Sheryl helped with carpet, window treatments throughout the whole home (I love the woven woods & top-down-bottom-up) drapes, Lucite, some decor from boutiques to pop, furniture placement, fabric to reupholster, affordable art, ….. wow- thank you Sheryl.

We purchased a new home 6 years ago. Sherrie was so helpful making our home exactly perfect for our family. She brought samples, cushions, flower arrangements along with recommending furniture, rugs and draperies. Then she helped my son and his family decorate their new home that ended up great for them and their children - adding clusters of black and white photos of their kids, pets and parents. Along with new bedding for their master bedroom, artwork and beautiful lighting in living areas. And just this past year, we needed a refresh to living room rugs, cushions and new bedding for the master bedroom. I would absolutely recommend her for any or all of your decorating needs.

I contacted Sheryl because I wanted my home to be more cozy and welcoming. The window treatments didn’t suit the room and I needed professional help. What a difference her ideas and schematic made!! She is so very nice and easy to work with especially within my tight budget. Choosing Sheryl was absolutely the best decision I could have made for redecorating my home.

When we contracted with Sheryl for color and design services to prepare our home for sale and then stage it, we had no idea that we would be working with a certified miracle worker! She is not only a genuinely kind person, she works with your budget so that existing items can be repurposed as much as possible. We received compliments from agents, buyers and friends who were impressed how our home "popped." Anyone who is looking for home staging, interior design, color consult or other services should call this amazing woman. WE ESTIMATE THAT WE SOLD OUR HOME FOR AT LEAST $100,000 MORE DUE TO SHERYL'S WORK. Thank you, Sheryl.

I highly recommend Sheryl. She is really easy to work with and helps you accomplish the look you are going for. She did all the shopping for our rugs, our window treatments and decorations. She helped us pick our colors in the master bedroom, bathrooms and wallpaper. I have already recommended her to my best friend who is remodeling..

We met Sheryl through a mutual friend last year and discovered that she was an interior designer. She helped us design a suitable room for our two-year old son. She listened to what we wanted overall, and we are very satisfied with the final outcome. The project was completed in a timely manner. The bed, simple wall decoration, dresser and little play area just seems perfect. She definitely know her stuff, and we would definitely consider using her services for our other rooms.

I called Sheryl because I heard she was an amazing interior designer and we needed a professional to help us stage our home for sale. Sheryl provided expert advice on paint colors specific to selling, and also helped with window treatments, decluttering tips, wallpaper, furniture layout to maximize space and be aesthetically pleasing, as well as many other tips to help promote a quick sale. The advice she gave was perfectly suited for our specific task. The house looked amazing after her help, and I attribute its quick sale to her expertise. The house sold in 3 days. I highly recommend Sheryl!

I called Sheryl to come in and help me with some new color choices for our first floor. My husband and I had been going in a particular direction but felt overwhelmed with all the options. Sheryl came in with some swatches and a wealth of things to consider and pointed us in a direction that was exactly what we were trying to do. Her advice cleared the way for a beautiful new backsplash and rich colors to freshen up our home. Calling Sheryl was the best idea, I just wished I had called sooner.

Interior design of two bedrooms, living room and dining room of my new home, to include custom window coverings, drapes, matching wall paint treatment and lighting. Sheryl assisted me in selecting beautiful fabrics for drapes and window toppers, as well as matching fabrics for bedding that all was custom made. I also had custom 2-inch wood blinds made and installed throughout my home and a beautiful shutter for a pass-through area. Every service provided was of the highest professional quality, delivered as promised! My experience in working with Sheryl was sheer satisfaction and graded A+ from start to finish!

Sheryl VanderHelm worked with me for several weeks in 2005 designing my newly purchased home. We first decided on a color scheme throughout and then we systematically went through the living-dining area, three bedrooms, and one bathroom, selecting paint colors, fabric for custom valances, draperies and bedcovers. We went to a furniture outlet in San Francisco and selected several pieces for the living room. Sheryl also had some of my cabinetry painted to update the area. She is knowledgeable, professional, and very easy to work with and I have loved living in my house with her decorator touches.

I first heard about Sheryl and VanderHelm Interiors from her mom, a former co-worker of mine. Sheryl came to my home because I was thinking about recovering my husbands favorite chair. She brought her fabric swatches and we picked out this very rich stripe with dark red, green and gold. At the same time I told her I was thinking about replacing our couch but that would have to wait awhile. In the meantime my husband and I went shopping around the area to look for a couch, however, nothing was right for the size room we had. When the chair was finished and Sheryl brought it back I was so thrilled with how it turned out Sheryl and I sat down and picked out a couch from one of her suppliers and the material that would complement the chair. When that was delivered, again I was thrilled with how it turned out. After these two projects were completed Sheryl soon came back and measured for her work room to make some window cornice for the living and dining area. I also purchased a couple of Hunter Douglas window treatments through Sheryl and they turned out beautiful. Sheryl is professional and always has great ideas. I am thrilled with the work she did for us.
