Fiona Sinclair Design Studio

Fiona was recommended as a designer by the contractor we had hired to renovate our downstairs bathroom. At that time we had further future plans to do a more extensive renovation on our main floor involving an open concept kitchen and complete refresh of our whole decor. We wanted to deal with the contractor directly but were looking for someone to give us a clear overall design and plans for the whole project (structural changes, cabinets, lighting, colour choices, furniture, etc.). Fiona immediately grasped our lifestyle and design preferences and gave us two or three well focused plans from which we were able to choose our favourite and with a few tweaks come up with one that made communicating the whole project clearly to our contractor much easier. Aside from being extremely personable and easy to deal with Fiona’s scope of training and experience makes her a compelling choice for any renovation. It all starts with a good plan and Fiona was excellent at providing the complete design package we were looking for. I would have no reservations about recommending her for your project.

I met Fiona through a mutual friend, who has known her for decades. Of course, I trusted Fiona from the outset. She is bright, intelligent and with a knack for both measurements and design elements. She is upfront with the costs and gives you a design space that is functional and elegant. The end result is a space(s) that is unique to your own vision and one that is comfortable, durable, yet functional and appealing. I highly recommend Fiona. She will be an advocate for you and mediate any issues that come up with the studios or companies without it being awkward. Shopping is not my strong point, nor is it my favourite past time. But, she makes it easy, simplistic and on budget.

I have worked with Fiona for more than a decade on High End Residential and Commercial Projects within Greater Vancouver. She trained as an architect under some of the biggest names on the planet and worked for one of the largest Studios in Vancouver before striking out on her own. We hired Ms. Sinclair for her design services after being thoroughly satisfied on a previous condo reno she did 10 years ago. The unit sold quickly because the design was still attractive and contemporary. Being familiar with her work we thought she would be perfect for our Yaletown townhouse. The unit was 15 years old and needed a complete renovation. Ms. Sinclair came up with a plan that included some major interior changes including the moving of walls and interior structures. Because we trusted her, we went with some materials and design features that we weren't quite sure of. In the end we were ecstatic with the result. It more than met our expectations with the aesthetic design but also is much more functional than we imagined. This is attributed to her attention to detail and vision. Also her architectural background provided our contractor with precise drawings that reduced the chance of errors. Ms. Sinclair can be opinionated and adamant but if you like her design style you will be very happy with the end result.

I highly recommend Fiona Sinclair, Fiona Sinclair Design Studio, Vancouver, B.C. She was our architect for a master bathroom renovation in our condominium. From the first planning sessions it was obvious that she is a consummate professional. All the drawings, plans, permits for the City, were executed in a timely manner. She dealt with the appropriate departments needed for permit approval and throughout the building process kept us updated and supervised the project on a regular basis which was helpful as we were not on site. The design was beautiful and functional. She is a good listener and while guiding our design choices she made sure we got what we asked for. The construction crew that she works with are highly skilled, respectful, clean and tidy and kept to a very tight timetable. We couldn't be happier with the final result.

Through the summer and fall of 2013 Fiona designed and implemented the total renovation of a two bedroom apartment I purchased. Pictures of the reconstructed kitchen are on her website. The renovation included changing every wall, floor and ceiling and gutted both bathrooms which are just as lovely as the kitchen. During the process she proved to be personable, thorough and kept me fully aware of what was going on. The best part was not having to deal directly with the contractor and the various suppliers. Once a decision was made about a finish or product, Fiona worked with the contractor or supplier to meet the construction schedule. Once the job was completed and I had moved in there were small deficiencies which Fiona arranged to have taken care of promptly.

As an architect Fiona Sinclair brought a level of expertise to my interior project which is a step above the scope of most interior designers. She has a flare for perceiving and expressing the client's personal taste and remained very flexible and open to my ideas and input. Fiona Sinclair has a make it happen attitude which resulted in a very contemporary , open and unique living space which truly reflects my style. I appreciated her swift ability to narrow down choices and suggestions to make my contribution as straight forward and smooth as possible. She has an excellent working relationship with the contractors, millworkers and upholsterers that she recommends and liases with. I give Fiona Sinclair Design Studio my highest recommendation.
