Granite Depot of the Smokies

We had 3 new townhouses in Gatlinburg to have new granite installed in the kitchen.We are from Mississippi so didn’t know anyone there.We got our hickory kitchen cabinets from Lowes and loved them. They were very knowledgeable and helpful at lowes. We got a price from Lowes for the granite and it was a good price. But we decided to give the locals some business as they were about the same price as Lowes.it is Granite Of The Smokies in Sevierville. BIG MISTAKE! We ordered and paid the down payment. We got a call from the lady there who scheduled a template date. Then later she called and scheduled the installation. She said it was a very pretty piece of stone . So they installed and said that the rest had to be paid right then. We weren’t going up for another couple weeks so we sent a check. When we got up there it was a shade off in color and every counter top was chipped and cracked. We called and the girl told us she thought it was the wrong color too. We emailed the owner and she said it was the right one but they would fix the cracks! Later found out the owner fired that girl after she told us that. I took a sample of our top that was left in the townhouse and compared it to every Lowes between Tn. And Ms. It was definitely the wrong color! After several attempts of getting them to fix it or make it right they stopped communicating with us! We could have sued them but we all know how much and long that would have taken. The lady that was the owner is a pure hateful woman to put it nicely. Wish we had used Lowes instead! So beware of this granite place as others have said. They are terrible at granite and customer service. Beware! Never use them!

We have used this company for two different Granite jobs. This first smaller job was well done and we had no complaints. A year later we hired them for a more expensive larger job and learned a lot about their integrity, or rather, lack thereof. The short story is they sold us a defective stone that chips easily and has a stain that is embedded into the stone. Another stone company believes that the stone we received is more of a marble and not a granite. Granite of the Smokies loves to pull out their contract and highlight the fine print as it suits the situation. They will say that the CONTRACT with THIRTY-TWO CLAUSES that you sign individually, plus and additional page and a half of “TEMPLATE REMINDERS” that you will also sign, is to provide you with a better customer experience. In reality they use this contract to hide behind when things go wrong. This company has NO flexibility and refuses to bend any of their rules to make the customer happy. Even so, we were not happy but decided we could live with several thing that were not ideal but I challenged the owner to show me in the contract where they were allowed to install stone that THEY chipped in transport and then repaired with a plastic epoxy. I was paying $8K for stone NOT plastic epoxy. I never received an answer about that question. So, if you do decide to move forward with this company be sure to read all 6 pages of the contract. I am sure that they have added a clause saying that they are allowed to “fix” chips that are caused during the installation. Also know that their interpretations of “Industry Standards” will be used to call you unreasonable and nitpicky. You have been warned proceed at your own risk!
