JHLA/JENNIFER HORN LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE

In 1991, Jennifer Horn was hired for part time work at a plant nursery in Northern Virginia. Within months she became hooked, and decided to study horticulture at Virginia Tech and to then pursue a Masters in Landscape Architecture from University of Georgia.

From 1999 until 2009 Jennifer practiced landscape architecture in New York City. Her professional experience included designing zoo exhibits for the Bronx Zoo; developing the ecological program for Fresh Kills Park on behalf of New York City’s Department of City Planning; and designing gardens, estates and parks for Edmund Hollander Landscape Architect and Deborah Nevins Associates.

Jennifer is a regionally licensed landscape architect (Virginia, Maryland and Washington DC) as well as in New York state. Since founding JHLA in 2009 Jennifer has continued to design luxury landscapes for residences, communities and resorts. Active projects also include school courtyard designs for communities in Ocean City, New Jersey and Queens, New York. JHLA has also provided strategic planning documents for communities both near and far (Fairfax, Virginia and Lanai, Hawaii) so that the landscapes respond to the existing ecological conditions as responsibly (and beautifully) as possible.

In 2012, Jennifer Horn launched Garden Gurus LLC, which is specially focused for smaller homes with clients who are seeking garden coaching services from professionals in the landscape industry but plan to make many landscape improvements on their own.

For every project, JHLA vigilantly adheres to the guiding principle that a landscape should respond to its adjacent architecture and its social and natural histories.

Commented: From what source did you purchase the paving stone and there name? We specified thermal bluestone for the paving and Charles Luck Stillwater Stone Veneer. CL has since closed but I’m sure there’s similar products out there.

Commented: love this water feature can it be built in zone 4 are plans available I’m sorry but we don’t sell our plans. But I don’t see why something similar cannot be retrofitted for zone 4. Good luck!
