Our philosophy is to create natural looking landscapes with an emphasis on the native and well adapted plants. We use organic methods and aim for sustainable, low maintenance gardens. The late Kevin Wood started Kevin Wood Landscapes 30 years ago with the goal of creating beautiful landscapes with a regional Texas flair. Along with his partner Sheryl McLaughlin, a landscape designer and native plant specialist, the team at Kevin Wood Landscapes continues to build residential projects using organic techniques and high quality craftsmanship. We are renowned for beautiful water features and creative stone work. We take great pride in creating sustainable landscapes with unique features. Our projects have a timeless appeal because of their natural beauty and are built to last. Kevin was a graduate of UT Austin and has left his mark on the local landscape. Manny has worked at Kevin Wood Landscapes for years and is currently our sales, design and construction manager. He is highly involved with the development of strong client relationships, project estimating, and construction management. Manny is highly resourceful to clients when it comes to native plants and building material knowledge. Manny can incorporate different building styles, architectural elements, and client interests, to create a harmonious design solution that will meld perfectly into your property, while also maximizing functionality. Manny is very passionate about his work and you will find this evident by his design creativity and implementation of your landscape installation. Simply stay away from this company for your next project. We had sought them out for a project but were thoroughly disappointed with their customer service. They seemed to take a long time to get back to us which was a big red flag. I suppose they would do a decent job from their references their inability to keep to a budget and slow responses made us feel like it would not be positive experience to work with them. In the end we ended up wasting money and most annoying a lot of time dealing with them. Do yourself a favor and look at another company that wants your business and is eager to work on your plans.

We apologize our response time was not satisfactory to your needs. After reviewing your customer file and estimates, we see that your estimates where below your listed budget here. We always provide an initial estimate that includes all the wants but spend time to review with our customers to fit within their budget and needs. This does take time due to projects already on our schedule. Our projects do take time, unfortunately, if a customer needs their design, estimate and project to start immediately, we would not be the company fit for you.

We first contacted Kevin Wood to help with irrigation and plant selection inside a courtyard that we were building between our house and the street. When KWL came out, they strongly recommended that we also tackle the large side yard - which was pretty awful except for our huge old live oak. We decided to bite the bullet and I'm so glad we did. The entire property now looks great! I'm a designer by profession and had my own ideas about what I wanted to achieve, so not the easiest client for KWL. They very graciously incorporated my ideas, however, and supported me when I wanted to deviate ( a lot) from their plan. They even allowed me to select the plants myself. Johnathan was a wonderful project manager - always patient and thoroughly professional - with an amazing "can do" attitude no matter what I threw at him. The crew was very careful and respectful of our property and they kept a clean site throughout. Manny was a great resource when it came to information about appropriate plants for us and he has been responsive and uncomplaining when we've had (a few) warranty issues that needed to be addressed in the aftermath. The work was begun and completed according to schedule and has now been in place for almost 4 months; but Jonathan has come back several times to trouble shoot. I've worked with a great many contractors over the years and these guys are among the best!

Disappointed. I really looked forward to hiring this firm, but the customer service was so poor that I eventually looked elsewhere. I had Ben Carter out once for consultation, for which payment was required (other firms provided initial consultant without charge). I was pleased with their knowledge, and I had scheduled a follow-up consultation - even rescheduling my kids' holiday break plans - fully prepared to hire them. But the morning of the appointment they simply called and cancelled. My family was understandably really frustrated, and the firm never apologized. After multiple calls attempting to reschedule, I finally gave up. They seemed quite full of themselves, not even interested.

We sincerely apologize that scheduling didn't work out for you as you had planned. Unfortunately we were dealing with a death in the company family around Christmas time when you had tried to schedule. I personally spoke to you on the phone to explain the situation and apologized for the inconvenience. The holidays are now over and we have been able to get back to normal operations.

We do charge for consultations, but we also apply that fee to your design fee upon agreeing to move forward.

Again, we truly are apologetic that you had disappointing experience in scheduling a consultation.

This review has no merit on the quality of work we achieve on project installations.

Kevin Wood Landscapes has been phenomenal to work with. Ben, Manny and their team have been professional, creative, completely reliable and we are delighted with the results. They guided us through a challenging project including a complete landscape redesign: lap pool installation, creation of a creek bed to alleviate flooding and a total walkway/ lawn/planting area redesign.Their vast experience, knowledge and creative vision helped guide us from start to finish with amazing attention to detail and always with great communication, and follow up. I contracted Kevin Wood Landscapes to refurbish and update my lawn. I am very pleased with the work they performed which included a detailed redesign of my beds and stone walkways, replacing my existing grass with Zoysia, adding new plants, moving existing plants to more appropriate locations, and adding a couple of hardscape features around my existing patio. Ben Carter designed the new layout and supervised the execution of the work. I was very impressed with his professional approach. He and his team (also very professional) met every deadline and were amazingly receptive to my feedback and changes throughout the installation process. The work has been completed for over two weeks, and Ben still stops by every few days to ensure the plants are doing well, irrigation system working, grass greening up, etc. I have been amazed with the positive comments I have received from neighbors and friends on the appearance of the lawn. I fully expect to reach out to Ben and Kevin Wood Landscapes next year when it's time to make a few more modifications to my lawn. I am delighted to recommend this company to others based on my own excellent experience.

Sheryl's design was exactly what we hoped for -- lots of native plants based on xeriscape principles (low-water maintenance) and attractive to hummingbirds, butterflies, and bees. The crew was wonderful and paid attention to details. Then, we asked KWL to extend our patio and add a stone topping. That project went smoothly as well. We have been enjoying the added space while watching the plants grow into their spaces; spring hummingbirds, bees, and a few butterflies come by every day.

They were attentive to my wants during the design process and developed a landscaping plan that exceeded my expectations. The installation process was fantastic. The crew arrived promptly, was professional and friendly, meticulous about their work, and cleaned up after themselves every day before leaving. Couldn't be happier.

We were very pleased with Kevin Wood Landscapes. With a lot of input from us, Ben Carter created a design for our natural site on which we had built our house nine years earlier and which needed its "finishing" touch. We asked Ben to create a walkway and associated beds around the perimeter of the house, to direct excess water from heavy rains, as well as to maintain a natural, understated aesthetic to complement the house. Incorporating a good deal of rock and stone, Kevin Wood created an organic landscape of native vegetation which connects the house back to the land and to the adjacent carport. Their staff was hardworking and responsive. Ben went beyond the call of duty in working with our desires and concerns. I would hire Ben and Kevin Wood Landscapes again and highly recommend them.

My task was daunting and I found the perfect Landscape group.They were able to listen to my thoughts and Ben Carter (with Kevin Woods Landscapes) had the ability and background to take my general ideas and make them come to life. Each day that I look out/over the landscape, I am more in awe of the transformation. He worked with me until all the ideas were in play. He has such a depth of knowledge of the vegetation and when I would see a pretty picture, he would guide me as to what would in fact do well in the various beds. He gave me a schedule and the project finished on time thanks to his incredible crew. I paid particular attention to water conservation and birds and butterflies. He even created a wildflower area. He gave me an estimate and I felt this was money well spent. I have recommended him to others and he has taken on other projects in my neighborhood.

We hired Kevin Wood Landscapes to help us develop and implement a master plan for our 1.6 acre property. Ben was extremely patient with us throughout the process, which started with several revisions to the architectural renderings and quotes as a result of us changing our minds after we were able to visualize some of what we had conveyed initially. Ben has a talent for choosing various plant locations and specimens, and offering creative approaches to layout and hardscapes. Once our plans were finalized Ben helped us to break it up into phases for implementation (it's a big project), which make sense for our budget while also helping us to identify the important infrastructure items to incorporate into the first phase that would be needed for subsequent phases. His crew worked round the clock for about a month transforming our place into a show piece. Ben and his onsite crew, which includes Manny, were readily available every single day that construction was underway. They spent a ton of time answering our questions, walking the job site with us, and discussing various options and alternatives as things came up. Their diligence in hearing our concerns and offering solutions and ideas for improvements was absolutely critical to the final result and made us feel very well taken care of throughout the process. Our first phase has been complete for about 6 weeks now and we are very happy with how it turned out. Our experience with Ben, Manny, and the whole team at Kevin Wood Landscapes far exceeded our expectations and we look forward to starting our next phases soon. I absolutely recommend them without reservation to anyone that is considering a landscaping project of any kind!
