My husband and I recently purchased a brand new home with a LOT of windows. We knew that coming into this project of getting shutters, it would be expensive, but price aside, after reading a lot of reviews, it was also going to be about the quality of the shutters and the installation job. We decided to go with Universal Window Coverings, instantly after meeting with Mike Coronato. He was very flexible with our schedule, brought samples and walked us through the process, was super nice and easy to be around...but the biggest upsell that no one could compete with is their express plan. We had pay the amount 100% up front, but in return, we were able to get the shutters in 4-5 weeks, we got them in 4. Custom made here in TX, great product, competitive price, fastest turnaround, and excellent customer service. We highly recommend them and would use them again. I would highly recommend Universal Window Coverings. They installed several shutters. We had 2 8'x3', 2 - 10'x4', along with upper windows above the 10' windows, and the arch windows above our front door and the arch window in our utility room. All of these windows, except the utility, face west. So we were looking for a better solution to block the sun, but not lose the entire view. We love the fact that the 8' and 10' windows are one solid shutter for each window instead of 2 shutters on one window. It makes the room appear bigger and has a nice curb appeal for bay windows. There were existing shutters on windows around the front door that are approximately 12 to 13 years old. The very top arch windows were not done. Universal was able to match the top arch windows above the door with the existing shutters. They process was painless. They were very detailed in their measuring and also in the final installation. They are not the cheapest; however, they are competitively priced and I feel the quality is superior. They delivered the final product on time and no additional fees.

Mike at Universal Window Coverings was recommended to us by a lawyer to use as an "Industry Expert" in a BBB Arbitration case against another plantation shutter provider. He came out to photograph and document the defective shutters. He also created a video (free of charge ) that we were able to use at the hearing. Nine months later the BBB ruled in our favor, we got our money back and were ready to start over. We chose to use Universal Window Coverings to provide plantation shutters for approximately 33 windows and 5 doors. I became somewhat of an expert in poor quality & construction because of our horrible experience with the other shutter company. As a result, I feel that now I can also detect superior quality, construction, and installation. THAT'S what I got from Universal Window Coverings! They use O'Hair shutters, which I believe to be unsurpassed in quality. But without precise measuring, meticulous painting and installation, even a quality shutter won't matter. Mike did all the measuring himself, and his partner, Tom, did the installation. I got white glove treatment and it shows. My shutters are absolutely perfect and beautiful - quality, paint, construction, installation. I've learned that the saying is true, "you get what you pay for"! Throughout the process, they were quick to return phone calls and answer questions. They were showed up exactly when they said they would, and called if they were even going to be a few minutes late. They were very neat and careful in my home during installation. I can not think of even one negative thing to say about the experience. I HIGHLY recommend using Mike Coronato at Universal Window Coverings! Over a year later, I contacted Universal Window Coverings to come out to repair a shutter that another contractor damaged during our backsplash installation. They came right out to get the shutter, repaired and repainted it, and reinstalled it - all for a minimal charge. I am a happy customer!!!!

On moving into a new house, I had this company come out to give me an estimate on wood shutters. They made sure I understood all my options and what the costs and time might be for each. They took great care in making sure they understood what I wanted, including matching the wood stain on the shutters to the woodwork already in the house. The shutters were beautiful, a perfect fit and the colors were great matches. Even better, they were ready in less time than quoted! The company professionally installed the shutters making sure I was happy with each and every one. Then they followed up a couple of months later. I am very proud of the beautiful wood shutters in my home on which I receive many compliments. Great job with great people who really listen and understand.

Over the past 10 years Mike has done the Shutters in five houses for me. The most recent this summer at my Lake House. Last summer he did my two daughters homes. The final product has always been awesome and every bet what we expected. The shutters look great from inside and outside the 5 houses Mike has done for me. Mike is very professional and knows what he is doing. Mike is a Pro at what he does and knows the products he provides. Mike always responds timely to my needs. Mike is the best at what he does. Michael and his company are both great. We spoke with multiple plantation shutter pros & received 3 different estimates. Michael was by far the most knowledgable, fair priced, & easy to work with. His installer Tom was amazing as well. Highly efficient, never wasted time & install looked great. They also custom color matched the shutters perfectly. We are picky and would highly recommend this company without hesitation. We will use them again for sure.

When I was looking to install custom shutters in my dining room and office on some very large windows, I originally called another company referred by a friend for an estimate. They came out and measured, but were not able to price the shutters and it took several days before the estimate was sent to me. He arrived on time and was fully prepared to measure and give me a price for the shutters at the time of our visit. He is quite an expert when it comes to shutters. I was so impressed by his knowledge and accuracy and the time he took to go over every question I had that I decided to contract with him at that first meeting. The whole process went flawlessly. Mike's assistant, Tom came out twice to match my paint trim and even sent another sample of stain after we had trouble finding an exact match for my office. The shutters were ready before the promised date and the installation went perfectly. The finished shutters matched our trim perfectly. My husband and I really love the shutters and would not hesitate hiring Mike for any future work. I would recommend him to anyone looking for custom shutters that will last a lifetime.
