Dave Elmgren helped us from beginning to end in the design and install of a fairly complicated whole house a/v system (including Sonos, TIVO, Lutron, cameras, etc...). With a large house, and some very specific and challenging technology requirements that we had, the project required a true partnership to understand and provide what we wanted. Dave spent all the time needed to learn what we were looking for, and to provide us options that would accomplish this within our budget. He started with us as the house was just being framed, and is still supporting us almost two years later now that we have moved in and are learning the ins and outs of the system. We were so pleased with his work that we had him update our other out of own house before we put it up for sale. He is a true professional (with us and all the contractors he had to interface with) and a pleasure to work with.

We had Sound Design install two Genelec ceiling speakers. This was a difficult job to begin with. The ceiling was on an angle and covered with ship lap wood, not the usual drywall. From first contact to finished install Dave was professional, prompt and had a can do attitude. When it came time to install the speakers the project proceeded to develop one unexpected challenge after another. Dave never lost his patience, remained positive and found solutions to each issue that came up. I was very impressed with his ability to stay cheerful during a difficult job when most contractors would have become visibly frustrated. I would highly recommend Dave Elmgren and Sound Design!

David [Sound / Design] modified and updated an AV system he installed several years ago. We needed to rearrange the AV systems due to room renovation and modifications. He is up to date on the new technology and was able to modify and integrate wireless into my systems successfully. David's knowledge and professionalism in AV is outstanding. You can always count on him after the project is complete to resolve technical issues that may arise later.

Dave is extremely knowledgeable and proficient in audio visual design and equipment, areas in which I am ignorant. It is nice to know that I can trust him to fix preexisting problems (at one location) and to design a system for my condo that will be top quality, user friendly, and within my budget. I highly recommend his services!

When my wife and I retired we did an extensive remodeling of our house, including the installation of a completely new sound and video system throughout the house. We installed two separate video systems, one cable and one satellite, four television sets, internet wired into multiple rooms and a complex sound system with 6 separate zones. Everything was installed properly and we just assumed that the individual who did the installation would be diligent in servicing the system. Unfortunately, this was not the case. As time went on and, as would be expected, we had a need to service the system the fellow who did the original installation simply would not return our calls. I never got an explanation why, but it taught us a lesson. Be sure that the company you use to do your installation is reliable when it later comes to service. So, I turned to a local interior designer for a recommendation of someone to help. The recommendation was Sound Design. David Elmgren at Sound Design was wonderful. He came into this complex system, diagnosed the problems and fixed them. In addition, when we had questions and small issues that subsequently arose he continued to quickly and capably respond. His fees have been reasonable and we have only the best things to say about him. We highly recommend him for your job! PS: The form for this review required me to enter an approximate Project Date. I put in the date I believe we first used David. But his work for us is ongoing as we need help. So, just to be clear, I'm posting this in the fall of 2015. So we have been continuously using David for some time now.

After my old receiver failed, Dave provided a new updated model that met my specs. I decided also to upgrade my tv also. Dave provided both at a reasonable and fair cost. The best part was that I now had streaming video through both my receiver and TV. Dave set it all up, including adding Roomie app to our iPhones and iPad to control the whole A/V system. It opened a whole new world, couldn't be happier with the equipment, installation, service, and final result. Highly recommended.

Dave Elmgren came in on the end of a new home sound/cable wiring and installation project for me that the previous provider left before finishing. His thorough knowledge of the components and installation allowed him to take over where someone else left off. This is challenging as he did know the partial installation details done by others. He completed some miscellaneous work, suggested new "tweaks" and equipment and has been a big help on follow up questions or problems. Very professional and competitively priced.

I hired David out of desperation. I had experienced two other "qualified" sound guys from Traverse city with poor results. I wasn't sure what to expect but he exceeded my expectations and he has designed and implemented a very effective sound system for my restaurant and tavern. Also, and most importantly. If I ever had a problem, he was very responsive and he was able to correct the situation quickly and the issues revolved around equipment that he did not install. I would recommend him
