Vermont Plank Flooring was wonderful to work with. Large samples (12"x12") of the white oak flooring that I was interested in were sent, so I could pick out the color and width. They sell direct to the consumer so you will not see their flooring in stores. They fabricate in Vermont and ship to you. You will need to have your own installer.
They were very knowledgeable and helpful with any questions that I had.
The floors turned out so beautiful for our new built house and we couldn't be happier.
Thank you to Jen and Sara for being so professional.

Stand up people at Vermont Plank Flooring
Vermont Plank flooring made a major mistake on my project. The wrong flooring was shipped that we waited weeks for. As you can imagen, this would make anyone's blood boil, not to mention the delays on the project. Once Sara realized the mistake was made, she called me right up and resolved the problem with no issues what so ever. Bottom line, mistakes are made in business every day. Its how you work to correct them that matters, and they did the right thing. Besides that, the product was excellent, top notch

Working with VPF was a nightmare that significantly derailed our home renovation project. The quality of the product is fine, but the business and operations are so mismanaged, that I would definitely recommend finding a comparable product from a different company.
Our flooring was supposed to be delivered between Sept 28-Oct 4. They let us know on Sept 16th that it actually would not be delivered until November 10-16th due to a "pre-finishing delay."
To try to salvage our timeline given our very harsh winter was imminent, our floor installer agreed to season and finish the floors himself, but this made it so that we had to change the entire order of work being done to allow for that to happen, which totally threw off the subcontractor schedule and doubled the amount of time it took for our project to be completed.
VPF took off the pre-finishing cost considering they would no longer be doing the pre-finishing, but when asked about getting more funds back given how much their mistake had completely derailed our project, Greg said there was nothing they could do.

Comment from Vermont Plank Flooring:
Hi Alexis, I’m sorry to hear about the inconvenience you and Jude were caused by our production delay in late 2022.
I know you had challenges with scheduling with your subcontractors – which is always tricky – and our delay couldn’t have helped.
Construction schedules have lots of moving parts. We have never heard of a supplier discounting their product for an unexpected delay, and our business model (premium quality with tight margins) certainly could not support that.
When we realized the delay wouldn’t work with your schedule, we refunded your prefinishing cost, and supplied the unfinished flooring along with the finish product for your installer to apply onsite after installation.
We’re glad you worked with such an excellent installer (EHF), and that the floor came out so well. We were so pleased to see the wonderful review you left them with pictures of the flooring in your beautiful home! ( https://goo.gl/maps/9WHRc2TdoF85zG9R8).
We hope you enjoy your custom-milled flooring for years to come.

Vermont Plank Flooring has a very high quality product at a very competitive price. They were great to work with from pricing to install, and kept me updated on my order at every step. The installer was impressed by the quality and the floor is gorgeous.

It seems like there is a good group of people that work here, but I would never recommend this company to anyone after our experience. Our small 400 sq ft project was delayed for 29 weeks. We ordered it in June 2022 and finally received it in Jan 2023. To be fair, they claimed they were having issues with their onsite finishing vendor in addition to remaining issues from the pandemic (fine). Eventually that third party finishing team was replaced by a pre-finishing production in-house to be done by their team. While the floor we finally received looked beautiful—the quality of the finish we received seemed rushed and was sub-par.
Our installer with 20+ years of experience was greatly disappointed by the finish quality, and it lead to many issues upon install. We now need to have another coat of finish applied to ensure its stability and longevity. Which is really unfortunate considering the cost and time it took for us to receive the floor. While they were great with communication in-between that time, we feel shorted on the final product.
I also want to make future buyers aware that they expect you to know how many coats of stain/finish are applied to the samples you receive. So if you don’t ask, they don’t give you that information up front (deceptive?). One would assume they are picking the best finish quality for you with 30 years in the business (right?). That’s what an honest company would do.
Make sure you get in writing what will actually be applied to your new floor on the invoice (ours was absent in hindsight). Otherwise, you’ll end up unknowingly approving the bare minimum amount of finish for your new floor based on the stained sample you received alone (even if it isn’t the gold standard for finishing pine - which is 3 coats of finish min.). They claim to have used two coats of stain and two coats of finish on our soft white pine floor.
The excuse? Well, “we approved” the sample/look we received. Again, the information on how many coats of stain and finish that were applied to the samples was absent. It only dictated the type of sheen and stain color. (see photo of the approved sample attached)
Overall, since I don’t actually have any document of what was applied to my floor in writing anywhere prior to the completion of the job—I don’t know if the finish was botched during their finish team transition or the finish information I was given is false (which I only received after sending a formal complaint on behalf of my experienced installer).
For anyone wondering, this is what is claimed to be in their “Londonderry” finish for their eastern white pine:
- Mixture of 2-parts Waterlox Tung Oil Sealer & 1-part Minwax Golden Pecan Stain
- Mixture of 2-parts Waterlox Tung Oil Sealer & 1-part Minwax Golden Pecan Stain
- Vermont Natural Coatings PolyWhey® 3500 Matte Finish
- Vermont Natural Coatings PolyWhey® 3500 Matte Finish
You won’t find this info anywhere though. But I believe in product transparency so that buyers can make informed decisions. The point I’m trying to make is, if this info doesn’t exist on their website, my final invoice, on their samples (that get approved), or in any of my email communications with them, how would I have any visibility into the validity of their finish claims?
In the end, the lack of transparency on this front is extremely disappointing and feels like dishonest sales practices. Especially for a customer who doesn’t know the wood floor industry/best practices for floor finish…And regardless, the planks we ended up with don’t match the high quality they claim to attain.
