Floored

I found Floored on Angi’s list and I we really excited to work with Darren because we had a phone call consult that went really well and he came to my house to show me flooring options. Things started to take a turn for the worse when Darren texted me the day before they were going to start installing and said that they were running a week behind schedule due to a snow storm. I was not moved into the house I was remodeling yet and was planning to move in the weekend after they finished installing it. We were scheduled to have the flooring installed Monday-Friday and then we would move in that weekend. Our lease was ending at our old apartment. Darren said that the installers were going to work around the clock on Friday into Saturday morning to finish the flooring so we could move in on Saturday afternoon. Darren said that if the workers were still needing to finish up later on Saturday we could still move in and that they would work around us. Saturday afternoon rolled around and we went to move in and it was obvious that moving in was going to be a huge challenge because of all of the equipment they had out. None the less, we moved our stuff in around all of there stuff. The installers had most things done by Sunday which was great - just a little trim left to go. This is when we started noticing problems. Some of the floor boards newly installed were already starting to pop up. There were corners of the trim that did not line up at all and looked like they had been haphazardly cut by hand. We started a group chat with Darren and the project manager who managed the installation workers. Project manager was very understanding and send installers back multiple times and to fix things. My only complaint on this is that they had to return like 4-5 to keep fixing things that they missed on previous times. They also would show up unannounced which was frustrating. Project manager told us that his team struggled to do the project well because we were moving in while they were working even though Darren had reassured us that it was okay to move in. I pointed this out in the group chat and Darren was silent. This fixing process took about 2 months. Darren told us originally that they would poor a leveling agent over the floors to ensure the floors were level and that there would be no squeaking. This was no done. The floors themselves look great but the trim still looks a bit rough. We are exhausted by this process so we are planning to finish the trim ourself. When expressing how long this took and the quality of the trim installation to the group chat with Darren and project manager Darren requested to “leave the group chat”. Honestly, I blame 90% of this on Darren’s lack of communication, truthfulness and accountability. We appreciate that the contracts worked so hard with us to make things right. Contractors did a great job.

Darren came over to the house and looked over the area we needed to get carpet installed. We had the pad and carpet on hand so they were able to get started right away. They did a great job! They did several rooms in the basement and two sets of stairs. The finished product is wonderful. The installers worked hard to get the job done and they were very friendly. I would recommend Floored for any carpet project you may have.
