The three-masted topsail schooner Atlantic was one of twelve vessels which competed for the 1905 Emperor’s Cup, a prize put up by Germany’s Kaiser Wilhelm for a race between New York and the Lizard (the extreme tip of Cornwall). Atlantic won the cup by achieving a time of twelve days and four hours. In one 24-hour period she ran 348 nautical miles. She was taken up by the US Navy in both world wars and was eventually acquired by the US Coast Guard Academy. Although the Atlantic was built as a racing craft, she had a stateroom accommodation for seven people.

The Columbia yacht was built in the Nevins Yacht by Olin Stephens who brought all his vast and sound experience in the design of the 1958 America's Cup Defender. This 12 meter yacht had a wooden hull and could sail at very high speed. This model will make a perfect gift for home or office decorator, boat enthusiast, or passionate collector. Master craftsmen handcraft these highly detailed wood models from scratch using historical photographs, drawings and original plan. They are built to scale with high-grade wood such as: western red cedar, rosewood, and mahogany. They are 100% hand built individually using plank-on-frame construction method and are similar to the building of actual ships. Each model requires many hours to finish and must go through a demanding quality control process before leaving the workshop. The Columbia yacht beauty is amazingly captured by the full sails that extends all the way up to the masthead. The hull is made of teak with painted waterline. Wooden hatches can be seen on the deck near the bow. Metal stanchions and railings can be seen around the cabin. The backstay rigging is tightly connected from the transom to the top of the mast. • The history of America

The 19th century racing yacht, America, was given its name after the first international sailing trophy that it won - the America’s Cup. This schooner was designed by George Steers for Commodore John Cox Stevens and a syndicate from the Yacht Club of New York. On Aug 22, 1851, the America won by over 20 minutes in the Royal Yacht Squadrons 53 mile regatta around the Isle of Wight, capturing the "One Hundred Sovereign Cup”. Queen Victoria, who was watching at the finish line, was reported to have asked who was second, the famous answer being: "Ah, Your Majesty, there is no second.”
