The pineapple was a rare and expensive fruit in the colonies, and symbolized the spirit of hospitality. As such, it was a popular and recurring design motif in eighteenth century decorative arts--and still the sign of hospitality today.

The colorful floral design of the Portsmouth Pineapple Jar is interpreted from an early nineteenth-century wallpaper in the collection of the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation. Gold highlights.

Formally balanced when shown in pairs on the mantle. Top lid lifts off to use with branches or flowers.

Balinese peacock is a nineteenth century archival French roller print. Decidedly a South Seas look, the Scalamandre' pattern is rendered in exotic motifs of fruit, foliage and peacocks with delicate batik-like details. Part of the Scalamandre' Maison by PORT 68 collection, the jars are made of porcelain with solid brass metal lift off lids. Road to Canton" is a gloriously fun interpretive pattern celebrating a journey through the countryside. Dogs, Asian pagodas, ginko trees and a boat ride down the river all join together in a whimsical pattern painted by John Loecke of Madcap Cottage. We offer two versions of the eight colored pattern in porcelain, and on our Delfern Bench in coral and celadon fabrics.Canton is a narrow rectangle porcelain jar with lift off lid. Jar holds water. Perfect in pairs on the mantle or featured in a bookcase. Accented with a solid brass ring finial.

Temba is our modern inspired collection of transferware. Cream crackle porcelain is the background for the process of using a decal in color with the neutral background of ceramics. The process was originally done in England in the mid-18th century to transfer or copy from an engraved copper plate Chinese patterned designs which were popular at the time. Transferware was a way to bring the look of expensive hand painted pottery and dinnerware to the middle class in England. Collectors around the world embrace the useful dinnerware, platters and graphic pottery of transferware. Often transferware celebrates important buildings, pastoral scenes, animals and flowers. Our collection marries modern shapes, floral motifs and architectural details. The Temba Box is: 7"H x 8"W x 7"D. Materials: porcelain

The design of the Deane jar is an inspiration from a cord-quilted bed cover made in England or Ireland around 1730 to 1750. The original pattern from the WILLIAMSBURG collection is an oval shaped lattice design that alternates the garland branches at six inch intervals. Our jar features the lattice in slate blue on a matte crackled glazed porcelain urn shape. Lift off top for interior storage. Scaled for mantles or bookcases, the pattern on the jar is modern, yet classic. Accents of solid brass ring finial. Materials: porcelain, solid brass

Chinese designs came to England and her colonies with the tea trade. In the 1760's Virginia's governor ordered "bamboo chairs" for this Williamsburg "palace". Williamsburg cabinetmaker Edmund Dickinson owned a copy of Chippendales Director, the most fashionable furniture pattern book of the 1750's and 1760's. When he died fighting for the American cause in the Revolution, his Director was worth as much as his "new rifle gun".
As part of the WILLIAMSBURG for PORT 68 collection, Bamboo Trellis celebrates Chippendale in bright meadow green-on-cream porcelain. The pattern was inspired by the dining room chairs in the Governors Palace.

We love the whimsical nod to the Madcap brood of pugs. As many of you may know, the Madcap gents have four pound rescue dogs. (Read their book "Prints Charming" for many more stories on their designs and love of pugs!)
As part of their Madcap Cottage for PORT 68 collection, we added the finial on the jar lid to be the shape of a pug dog. Its all in fun with a nod to their pugs, and their love of antique decorative objets'.
The overall pattern name Crewel Summer is a joyful classic crewelwork needlepoint. Strawberries, lemons, and other botanicals come together into a timeless mix of color that brings the garden indoors.
The porcelain jar has a lift off lid. Perfect on the bar as a champagne bucket, or on the sideboard used as a planter. So many uses which allows you to be adventurous in decorating the home.
You may want to add a lucite base under the jar. Lucite stands are ever so chic. We suggest a size of 7" or larger in diameter. The assortment of stands may be viewed under the tab of "stands". We offer 1" and 2" heights in round and square shapes.
