Stair lights are an easy way to eliminate tripping hazards and create a softly illuminated ambience at the same time. They can be used both indoors and outdoors, so wherever you have steps that might be partially obscured by shadows you can install step lights to create a safe passage for you and your family.

How many stair lights do I need?

It’s recommended that you install one step light for every two to three steps. However, if your stair treads are extra large, you may need to install one light for each step. If you don’t have a wall next to each step, some styles can also be attached to pillars or rails, and others can also be installed directly into the step itself.

Which style of stair lighting is best?

The best style mainly comes down to your own personal preferences and how your lights can be installed. You can choose between recessed and surface mounted designs in a wide range of colors and finishes. If your step lights are going outside, make sure they’re waterproof.
