The difference between the Stout Shelf Bracket and Corbel is the size of the center support. Shelf brackets have a single 3/8in wide support in the center and the corbels start with 2 3/8" center supports welled together. Are the both strong? Yes without question, a single support is lighter, cheaper to make, and looks less bulky.åÊ

• The L-Bracket is made from 1/4-inch thick steel and features 3 - 1/4" diameter holes in the back plate for mounting the bracket.

Can you use the larger corbels as shelf brackets? Yes absolutely, they will work great and give you a more substantial look. You can even use these brackets to support counter top overhangs if you wish.
