"German-born Max Ernst was a provocateur, a shocking and innovative artist who mined his unconscious for dreamlike imagery that mocked social conventions. Max Ernst attacked the conventions and traditions of art, all the while possessing a thorough knowledge of European art history. He questioned the sanctity of art by creating non-representational works without clear narratives, by making sport of religious icons, and by formulating new means of creating artworks to express the modern condition. His work with the unconscious, his social commentary, and broad experimentation in both subject and technique remain influential."
Professional custom cut and sized frame. Material used: Solid wood moulding, Crescent™ Acid Fee Museum Rag Mat™ + acid free backing and TruVu™ UV Protection Anti Glare Museum™ Glass. Modern Now's in-house framer constructs all of the archival framing to match the same specification of the artworks that are hung in the gallery for the preservation and protection of your artworks.

Historically, sculptures composed of precious metals were crafted using the traditional hot casting process. 25 years ago, the artisans at renowned metal art company D'Argenta introduced an advanced new metalworking technique that changed the way precious metals are sculpted. D'Argenta's new method combined cold casting and electroforming to create intricate, finely detailed sculptures. The pieces are initially plated with a . 015 inch (400 micro) thick layer of copper, then plated with silver or (24K) gold at a thickness of . 001 inch (24 micro). Each sculpture's interior is composed of a polyester fiberglass core that strengthens sleek metal plating. After being formed, each piece is coated with a protective lacquer to prevents tarnishing and maintain luster. This final step ensures that all D'Argenta sculptures, though crafted with fine silver, do not require polish or any type of metal cleaner and can be simply dusted with a dry cloth as needed.
Exported around the world and now available in over 25 countries, D'Aragenta's products have won international acclaim because of their innovative construction and exquisite beauty. In 1981, D'Argenta was recognized with the Bulgarian Government Gold Medal award. In 1992, a D'Argenta sculpture was gifted to His Royal Highness Prince Naruhito of Japan on a visit to Mexico. A nod to the company's exclusive prestige, D'Argenta sculptures have been gifted to an increasingly long list of dignitaries, including Pope John Paul II, Prince Phillip of England, and his Majesty King Harald of Norway.
The gifted artists of D'Argenta include: Manuel Alvarado, Ricardo Del Rio, Enrique Jolly, Javier Arenas Perez, Claudio Rodr

24" X 36" Oil Painting On Canvas Hand painted oil reproduction of famous painting, Blind Man's Bluff , by Francisco Goya. Originally the painting was made for a tapestry in the Royal Palace of El Pardo. Today it has been carefully recreated detail-by-detail, color-by-color to near perfection. Francisco Jose de Goya y Lucientes (1746 - 1828) was a Spanish romantic painter and printmaker regarded both as the last of the Old Masters and the first of the moderns. Goya was court painter to the Spanish Crown; throughout the Peninsular War he remained in Madrid, where he painted the portrait of Joseph Bonaparte, pretender to the Spanish throne, and documented the war in the masterpiece of studied ambiguity known as the Desastres de la Guerra. His thematic range extended from merry festivals for tapestries, draft cartoons, to scenes of war and human debasement. This evolution reflects the darkening of his temper. Modern physicians suspect that the lead in his pigments poisoned him and caused his deafness after 1792. Near the end of his life, he became reclusive and produced frightening and obscure paintings of insanity, madness, and fantasy, while the style of the Black Paintings prefigures the expressionist movement. Through his works he was both a commentator on and chronicler of his era. The subversive imaginative element in his art, as well as his bold handling of paint, provided a model for the work of artists of later generations, notably Manet, Picasso and Francis Bacon.
