Ma jolie (My pretty girl) was the refrain of a popular song performed at a Parisian music hall Picasso frequented. The artist suggests this musical association by situating a treble clef and music staff near the bold, stenciled letters. Ma jolie was also Picasso's nickname for his lover Marcelle Humbert, whose figure he loosely built using the signature shifting planes of Analytic Cubism. This is far from a traditional portrait of an artist's beloved, but there are clues to its representational content. The central triangular mass subtly indicates the shape of a woman's head and torso, and a group of six vertical lines at the painting's lower center represent the strings of a guitar, which the woman strums. In Cubist works of this period, Picasso and Georges Braque employed multiple modes of representation simultaneously: here, Picasso combined language (in the black lettering), symbolic meaning (in the treble clef), and near abstraction (in the depiction of his subject).

Young Girls at the Pianoby overstockArt(2)

Anyone who ventures into your room or workspace will be fascinated by this oil painting of Young Girls at the Piano. Renoir depicts two young girls in a bourgeois home in his 1892 original, with one seated at the piano playing and the other standing and looking at the music over her shoulder. Strong, supple drawing and tight composition helps bring a quiet, youthful intimacy to the scene, which are captured in this recreation. Born in 1874 in France, Pierre-Auguste Renoir was a leader in the development of Impressionism, and his perfectionism often drove him to rework his paintings. He completed four different versions of Young Girls at the Piano, showing both his interest in the subject matter and his never-ending desire to create the perfect version. Add the same interest and desire to your collection with this oil painting on canvas. ?

Mark Hopkins' unique balance of organic inspiration and singular contemporary design has been called "bronze in motion" for its fluid look, which often appears to display natural beauty in defiance of gravity.
About Mark Hopkins
Mark Hopkins takes his inspiration for every facet of life on Earth, from the majesty of wildlife to mankind's interaction with nature, and produces limited-edition pieces that evoke a sense of awe and respect for the mysteries and loveliness of the world around us. Collectors of his work include Barbara Mandrell, Clint Eastwood, Bill Clinton, Colin Powell, George and Barbara Bush and a host of other luminaries and corporations including the National League Association of Baseball Club Owners, the Atlanta National Golf Club, Humana, Coca-Cola and others. Each Mark Hopkins sculpture is crafted with pride in the USA.
Captivated by form and design, Mark has personally created a signature style of vibrant vitality resulting from decades of study. Encouraged by parents and teachers from an early age, Mark's unique talent developed alongside his technical skills of sculpting and casting. As an artist, Mark is constantly challenging himself to render the rich beauty of life and the deep emotion of the human soul into flowing sculptural form, noting "I strive to express beyond the image, to catch spirit, to reveal deeper emotions, and to share joy. "
About the Production Process
From the artist's hand to the final polishing stages, many intricate steps go into the creation of a limited edition bronze sculpture. First the reproduction mold is made in which layers of silicone rubber and plaster are delicately applied to the original work. Then hot wax is poured into the reproduction mold to form an exact replica of the original sculpture.
When the wax replica is removed from the mold, it is then inspected and refined or "chased" by hand to remove any imperfections that may have occurred in the reproduction process. Next, ceramic cup and wax sprues, or gates, are added which later will help channel the molten bronze into the shell to create the sculpture.
The next step is creating the ceramic shell by alternately dipping the wax replica over a period of several days into a vat of liquid slurry, then a vat of silica crystals. The shell is then set to dry, and the process repeats until the shell has reached the appropriate thickness and strength.
The finished shell is placed in a high temperature oven that melts and removes the wax (the traditional "lost wax" method). The hardened or "fired" shell is secured, so the molten bronze can now be poured into the wax impression.

20" X 24" Oil Painting On Canvas Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec's magical painting "At the Moulin Rouge: The Dance" showcases his evolving style and the merging of different artistic inspirations. Painted circa 1895, this swirling, colorful oil painting captures the gaiety and joie de vivre of Paris at the end of the century. With an almost photographic eye, the artist has put the main subjects at the center of the work in sharp focus, while the others at the periphery of the painting are in a much softer focus. The scene's energy and joy come through it all and will bring the same positive energy and joy to your own space. .

Rain is a beautiful and colorful image of two women stopping for a quick chat during summer rain. Enjoy its beauty and color reproduced as a fine canvas print. Justyna Kopania is from Warszawa, Poland. In her words when she paints she tries to show the 'world', which could be seen by looking at reality that surrounds us, from another perspective, unusual, remote, sometimes through the eyes of the child, sometimes music, composer, or someone who looks lichen on the sea, the moon , the sky and the stars ..., the river ... looks out the window and looks out into the street. Walking down the street looking at people's faces. In rain, snow or fog. Perhaps the world that surrounds us really is quite different than we perceive it every day.

Dance in the Countryby overstockArt(1)

Originally painted in 1883, "Dance in the Country" by Pierre-Auguste Renoir now sits in the Mus??e d'Orsay in Paris. It's an important work from Renoir's career for a number of reasons. Most importantly, the work became a symbol of his eventual break from Impressionism. He was inspired by the works of Raphael and began experimenting with a more classical style here. Another reason the painting is historically significant is that the female dancer, Aline Charigot, would later become Van Gogh's wife. With stunning beauty and a romantic backstory, this oil painting reproduction of Van Gogh's "Dance in the Country" would be a lovely addition to any home. The soft colors and classical styling easily fit in with existing d??cor.

Degas takes us into yet another Paris dance studio in this rendering of Dance Studio at the Opera. This behind-the-scenes look at the Paris Opera House includes lots of dancers practicing and observing, along with two gentlemen, who also get a behind-the-scenes look, along with the viewer. Most of the dancers are on the perimeter. However, one dancer approaches the center of the scene and our eyes are drawn to her, as are the eyes of her observers. Over and over again, Degas painted themes like this with dancers honing their craft. The limbs of each dancer in this painting are intricately rendered, giving us a firm notion of form and movement. Our near-exact replica measures 20" x 24" and was painted by hand.

Dance at Bougivalby La Pastiche(2)

A beautiful scene of a Parisian suburb is captured to perfection in "Dance at Bougival" by Pierre-Auguste Renoir. The close-up scene of these two dancers highlights Renoir's incredible abilities as a figure painter. The intense colors (especially the woman's bright red bonnet) are a slight departure from the soft tones of many of Renoir's other works. Meanwhile, the sweeping brushstrokes helped to capture the movement of the whirling couple. Painted in 1883, this painting is a lovely example of the Impressionist style that Renoir had mastered at the time. With this oil reproduction painting of "Dance at Bougival" by Renoir, you'll be able to add style and elegance to any room in your home. This painting is particularly beautiful when placed in a dining room or bedroom.

The Night Cafeby overstockArt
$308

Hand painted oil reproduction of a famous Van Gogh painting, The Night Cafe. The original masterpiece was created in 1888. Today it has been carefully recreated detail-by-detail, color-by-color to near perfection. Why settle for a print when you can add sophistication to your rooms with a beautiful fine gallery reproduction oil painting? Vincent Van Gogh's restless spirit and depressive mental state fired his artistic work with great joy and, sadly, equally great despair. Known as a prolific Post-Impressionist, he produced many paintings that were heavily biographical. This work of art has the same emotions and beauty as the original by Van Gogh. Why not grace your home with this reproduced masterpiece? It is sure to bring many admirers!

Dancers in Pink, Unframed Loose Canvasby overstockArt(2)

Degas' Dancers in Pink is yet another behind-the-scenes depiction at the ballet. According to some estimates, Degas' entire body of work includes some 1500 paintings, drawings and sketches on the subject of dance. True to form, the subjects in this painting do not address the viewer directly, but rather look inward, which is quite common in Degas paintings. They also seem to share a certain intimacy derived from performing and rehearsing together. Another common theme is clusters of figures. Degas has included that here, too, as the dancers gather on the right-hand side of the canvas. The pink costumes are delicately depicted with sweeping motions. And, again, there is great contrast between the level of detail on the dancers themselves and the blurry background behind them where other dancers gather.
