“We chose Grain & Steel after meeting with several builders to expand our master bathroom, walk in closet and add a 3 season room below. We had some challenges as we didn't want the addition to impact our existing family room on the first floor. We felt comfortable with Keith immediately. He was the only builder who came back with an initial design concept and a rough estimate of the costs right away. Keith then introduced us to a fantastic architect who provided a detailed plan that blew us away. It was honestly way more elaborate than we envisioned - a 2 level spa like bathroom, huge walk in with custom shelving and a beautiful 3 season room below. However, when we met with Keith to review the design and renderings, he assured us that the end result was going to be EXACTLY what was depicted and that is what we got. From the first shovel to lay the foundation, to the final finish details, every step of the project was executed perfectly. All of Keith's subcontractors (framers, roofers, electricians, plumbers, finish carpenters and tile, flooring, painters etc) were all skilled and professional. Along the way Keith consulted with us on several details and made suggestions that made the end result even better. Keith personally did all the custom shelving in the new walk in closet. We could not be happier with Grain & Steel - we would recommend them without reservation.”

“Marvin, Rene and the entire team at Clawson Architects knocks it out of the park EVERY time I work with them. I am a building materials retailer and every time I see a plan out of their office I breath a sigh of relief. The thorough, and I mean THOROUGH attention to detail in both design direction and product selection is second to none. Marvin's ability to consider every aspect from budget to execution is exemplary; it is a rare talent that can consider each and every part of your house - fully zoomed in too a door hardware or window sash detail, zoomed out all the way out to an entire facade. All design language, uber-modern contemporary, arts and crafts, tudor, victorian; they get fully respected and thoughtfully executed by this firm. When I get a set of plans from a contractor, and that big letter "C" is in the upper right corner, I know there is little thought or creative input needed on my end. Each plan set provides staggering detail and truly gives a sense of the end result. Marvin's attention during each project ensures it will come to fruition in totality and that no detail is overlooked. And to tour the end result is to step into a showpiece of the highest caliber, inspiration found around each corner. If given the opportunity to work with these fine folks, take it. I've not met a client of theirs who does not rave about the process or end result.”

“My husband and I bought a house with some problems that we didn’t realize were there, the biggest of which was an unpermitted finished basement. When we decided to renovate, we asked Ryan to come in and help us design a space which would both work for us and bring the house up to code. We did not make a mistake with that choice. Ryan came in and took a few measurements, then spent time talking to us about what we wanted in our basement. We had some vague ideas (a laundry area for me, an office space for my husband, and some storage). Ryan took our simple thoughts and turned them into a plan for an amazing basement. He found ways to maximize the light and storage space in our basement that we never thought possible. He gave us everything we asked for and more with those designs. It didn’t stop there, though. Ryan continued to help us navigate the insanely complicated permitting process with our local authorities. He handled all the paperwork for us, picking up forms and dropping off checks at the town. He was here for inspections to help us with the inspector. He worked with us, our contractor, and the town to help resolve the additional unpermitted work that was found in our house during those inspections. He made sure we got the safe, up to code, legal (permitted) house we wanted and reduced our stress level during the whole thing. He was a godsend! I don’t think we could have made it through that work without him. If we ever decide to do more work on our house, he is most definitely our first phone call.”
