My training in real estate began at an early age. Growing up in the Seattle area, my family moved rather frequently (my parents - both real estate enthusiasts; by age 18, I had lived in 10 different homes all over the Eastside). Moving on average every 1.8 years meant much of my childhood was spent touring homes with my parents – and it was during those countless tours that I fell in love with architecture, design & all things real estate. While some little girls were busy playing dress up with their dolls – I was busy rearranging the furniture in my room (early attempts at ‘staging') and reading books about the works of Frank Lloyd Wright. After attending the University of Southern California and the University of Oregon School of Law, I returned to Seattle to begin my legal career as a real estate attorney. Several years later, and after spending one summer deeply invested in helping my Mom purchase yet another home, I realized that my heart wasn't in the courtroom litigating property disputes – and I was happiest when I was using my talent to help others when they were making one of life's biggest decisions – buying or selling a home. I am sincerely committed to helping my clients and I handle each one of my client's transactions with the same dedication & diligence as if it were my own. As a real estate agent, my philosophy is to act more like an ‘advocate' and less like a ‘salesman'. In real estate, salesman & advocates ultimately have the same objective: selling a home for the best price possible. But the two differ when it comes to the client relationship: a salesman is usually only concerned with his bottom line – whereas an advocate is always acting in accordance with his client's best interest. With a lifetime of being immersed in real estate, I'm a Seattle neighborhood expert, which ensures my buyers will find the right home that best serves their needs - and my design & marketing knowledge ensures my sellers will sell their home quickly and for the highest price. And having spent six years as a real estate attorney, my extensive experience in the areas of property law, title, financing, and condominiums allows me to smoothly guide my clients through each step of the transaction – and means that I can skillfully negotiate the sale so they are getting the best deal possible.

Education and Background Melissa attended the University of Colorado-Boulder where she majored in Communication. While at CU, she spent eight months abroad on Australia’s Gold Coast studying International Business at Griffith University. Experience Upon graduation, Melissa relocated to San Diego and began working in Commercial Real Estate. Her career path led her from San Diego to Chicago and then, ultimately, to Seattle. Melissa spent ten years deeply engrained in the Seattle technology industry focusing on business development, marketing project management and team management where she led dozens of large-scale content development projects for top-tier clients including Microsoft, SAP, Dell, Amazon and Yahoo. She was drawn back to real estate where she is able to combine her passion for cultivating client relationships with her business rigor, marketing and negotiation expertise. She has lived in Seattle and on the Eastside and is very knowledgeable about many areas of our greater metropolitan area. Commitment to Clients Clients love Melissa’s knowledge of neighborhoods. Often, buyers will know right away whether or not they love a home, but they do not know much about a particular neighborhood or street. Melissa takes it upon herself to fill in the blanks for you. Where you will grocery shop, what schools and activities are nearby, where you can eat out, what is easily accessible and everything else you may or may not think of. She understands that you are not only purchasing a home; you are investing in a neighborhood and a place to put down roots. She knows all the nooks and crannies in the different Seattle neighborhoods and can help guide buyers through the process to find a home that checks all their boxes. She takes the reverse approach when working with Sellers. Your home has a story and she knows how to tell it. She will identify the most valuable aspects of your home and make them a focal point that buyers cannot ignore. That does not stop at the property line. She helps you highlight your home’s best features as well as the neighborhood, because for many, they are equally as important.

Building community, one client at a time. When you partner with the Real Estate Gals, you don’t just get one agent—you get an entire team working on your behalf. If you’re a buyer, that means we contact sellers, set up appointments, and handle inspections. If you’re a seller, it means we handle interior cleaning, pay for staging, bring in a professional photographer, and do everything we can to sell your house for the best possible price. We don’t just list your house, we partner with you to sell it. We’ve operated in the Greater Seattle Area since 1990. We know this city inside and out, from Fauntleroy to Maple Leaf to Sunset Hills. We use that local expertise to not only help you find an incredible house, but an incredible neighborhood, too. Looking for a top-rated school? A street with an active and welcoming community? Walking distance to your soon-to-be-favorite bars? We’ve got you covered. We don’t want to just buy or sell another house—we want to find your home. We want to hear your hopes and dreams, and we want to do whatever we can to make those dreams a reality. Building relationships is the best part of this job, and the friendships we form with our clients last long after we sign the closing paperwork. We give back to our community whenever we can. A portion of every closed transaction goes into the Gals’ Giving Fund, which we use to support local nonprofits that are making a positive difference in Seattle. We are also proud to support Mary’s Place as Agents of Change, bridging the gap between homelessness and a place to call home.
