Naturally Modern Homes. Best of Houzz 2018 for both Design and Service, for five years running. We are a residential architect focusing on homes that relate beautifully to their surroundings, with sculpted lines and timeless materials. We bring Nature into each of our houses through expansive south-facing windows with axial views to draw the eye to the outside. Our modern houses are designed to minimize their environmental footprint, with innovative materials and techniques for energy and water conservation. The success of our projects depends on a strong relationship with our clients and teamwork with the builders. We are good listeners, understanding our clients' intentions so that we can translate their goals into a design tailored to them. Each project is sculpted to the client's way of living or working, inspiring a range of styles from the most sophisticated modern to beautifully crafted traditional designs, often with inventive cross-overs. Our hand-rendered drawings, models and computer simulations work together to ensure that our clients understand how a concept will work and accurately convey the project's look and feel when built.

At Foley Fiore Architecture, every project we take on, we strive to create an environment that will enrich the spirit. At the center of each project is the client. We value the process of getting to know people, understanding how they live, and how they work. Our success lies in tailoring a built environment that serves our client's needs, in an architecturally innovative manner.
There is a growing interest in sustainable, energy efficient design as the public becomes better educated about the potential to create better buildings. The U.S. Green Building Council has done a great deal to raise the visibility of this movement and induce clients to embrace its goals by using its LEED rating system. However, there is also the misconception of a dividing line between green or sustainable buildings and more conventional buildings. All new buildings could (and should) meet a fairly high standard of energy performance and sustainability by taking advantage of the myriad cost-neutral methods and materials that are now available. These include; optimizing solar orientation and daylighting, sizing systems properly, using high efficiency equipment, using efficient framing techniques, using efficient appliances and lighting, and installing insulation systems properly. For those interested in our practice, the decision to build ‘sustainably’ is not subjective. It is based on a comparative analysis of energy and water usage, the environmental footprint and occupant health and comfort. These lifecycle costs can be quantified in pro forma that articulate the costs and benefits.

Founded in 1990, Moskow Linn Architects is an award-winning, Boston-based architecture and design firm led by Robert Linn, AIA, and Keith Moskow, FAIA. MLA's wide-ranging portfolio, including residential projects, offices, and schools, is rooted in the details of the building process and New England craftsmanship. We collaborate closely with our clients, together examining project parameters and developing a dialogue to achieve architectural solutions that balance pleasure, work, and functionality. Through focused attention to detail we express how building components create an articulate whole. This approach includes the use of vernacular forms, materials, and tectonics to create contextual, contemporary architecture that engages its site and reveals its best attributes. The careful consideration of how one moves through a space and the resulting sensory engagement with a structure is also a fundamental driver of our design work, as is a commitment to creating forward-looking energy efficient structures. For every project we imagine a narrative that grounds our work with a timeless quality meant to last for generations. MLA has a longstanding tradition of expanding the boundaries of conventional architecture practice through theoretical interventions, small-scale investigations, and publications. These explorations allow us to approach design with fresh perspectives and push us to test the limits of form, process, and materials.
