Fergus Garber Architects

Average rating: 5 out of 5 starsDecember 11, 2012
“FGY Architects are very personable, creative and professional. My husband and I enjoyed several conversations with the main architects, Catherine Fergus and Dan Garber about the why, how and what we would change in our home to make it more livable for our family. We both happened to practice industrial designer, which made the creative process with the Garbers' most enjoyable, by being able to describe our ideas verbally and by sketching them in our meetings. Our project grew in size and budget during the process but since our plan was to be in our remodeled home for many decades, the increases have been worth it. To this day, we appreciate several ideas which both Catherine and Dan suggested from the expansion of the front porch, to enlarging doorways and creating an open feeling between rooms and hallways in relationship.”
Timeline Design + Build
Historic Building Conservation Companies in East Palo Alto
Average rating: 5 out of 5 starsSeptember 22, 2012
“Timeline Design designed and build our 6,000 sq ft house. They took our ideas and made them better. As the project progressed they improved the design and solved problems as the reality of the construction unveiled ways to make it better or address issues. This was done as a matter of course, not as a way to jack up the price through change orders. Most of these changes did, in fact, not change the price. Some did require extra or different materials or effort but these only added T&M charges. We are still delighted with our house 7 years after it was completed. Timeline Design still sends people out to fix or address any issues we have as they arise. Timeline Design is an honest, committed and talented designer/builder. I can't recommend them high enough!”

“A wonderful team who designed an elegant, amazing modern remodel and addition of our row house in San Francisco. The project had numerous obstacles including a load bearing wall that was over the property line, a very steep hill side with a ton of earthquake retrofitting required, and a bridge to link two buildings. They are wonderful at asking just the right questions to figure out the best uses of space and how to design for how you really live, are very professional, and extremely organized, articulate, and resourceful. I would highly recommend them to anyone for any sized residential project.”

“The process of designing and building a home on the west coast while we lived on the east coast would have been a challenge. Tom made it easy and fun. He was available whenever we needed him throughout the design and build process. Best of all, Tom is now one of our good friends.”

“Eugene Sakai stood out far above the pack of the 5 Architectural firms that we investigated to do our total house construction. He was simply the best to deal with, very professional, on time, and took a personal interest in the project, and within budget. We moved in 2 years ago and still love him and the contractor, C.W. Wright in San Carlos. We are pleased to show the house through Eugene Sakai at any time.”

“They produce good designs that tend to be on the more modern end of the spectrum. Carl, the founder has a good aesthetic as does Tom. They are not ideal if you have a tight budget as they put design ahead of cost.”

“Steve Borlik of Young and Borlik Architects understands families and lifestyles. While you'll find many styles of design in the portfolio, there is one central theme, the best interests and desires of the client. We're also big fans of Cal Poly grads, as their credo is to learn by doing which ensures a buildable plan.”

“Start to finish, Bill, Courtney and team were exceptional. They guided us through every step of the design and build process, made the experience smooth and enjoyable and made our dream come to life. This firm was highly recommended to us and I’m so happy we found them. Our house turned out better than our wildest dreams and I very much credit it to these architects. I would recommend them to anyone looking to build.”
