Melville Thomas Architects is a professional architecture and planning firm in Baltimore, Maryland. Craftsmanship and thoughtful design are core values, but our “get it done” attitude is what differentiates our approach to project design and implementation. We find that the final product, in many cases, is not as important as defining the process of getting to it. We are goals oriented and process driven. We develop and push schedules, we finish our work on time, we understand cost constraints and work with them, we establish definable goals, we communicate clearly, and we back up our work. We strive for the seamless integration of Design and Implementation.

E/L STUDIO is the architecture and design collaboration of Elizabeth Emerson and Mark Lawrence, AIA. Together, our experience reflects a broad range of project types and scales. We share a deep belief in the transformative potential of design. We believe in the promise of architecture to mitigate social conditions and enable positive change. Operating from bases in New York City and Washington, DC, we draw from our two locations - innovation and flexibility from the metropolis, civic and public engagement from the capital. The hybrid of these two environments enables us to envision new solutions. In our work, we resist the tendency to calcify the status quo as we resist customary stylistic distinctions. In search of new tectonic solutions which, through their construction, anticipate new programs and new events, we develop strategies and resolutions which are unique to the problems and potential posed in each individual project. We create an architecture which is anticipatory; which fosters new relationships and growth.

Braitman Design Studio is the design-remodeling firm homeowners come to when they know their home isn’t working for them but are at their wits-end about how to fix it. Often they’ve already talked with multiple professionals – architects and contractors -- before they end up at my door. I'm Jackie Braitman, the lead designer and project manager on every project. I offer turnkey solutions and will take your project from the idea stage through permitting and construction — with a single point of contact and an unparalleled record of on-time, in-budget performance and high quality. The biggest factor that separates me from other firms is that I know families are different and what’s right for one isn’t right for another. My job early in the process is to explore alternatives with the homeowner so they can fully imagine different possibilities and be my partner in developing the solution that’s right for them. As a result, I can honestly report that every one of my clients is happy at the end of the project and report dramatic improvements in the quality of life and enjoyment of their home. I work almost exclusively on pre-WWII homes that need to be brought into the 21st century – with open floor plans, indoor-outdoor living, and central kitchens. Often the solution is as much about re-organizing existing space than adding new space. My design practice crosses the bounds of design, architecture, art and construction. You can think about my work as having 3 parts: 1) A remodeling design/build practice 2) A landscape architecture design/build practice 3) A sculpture studio where I create large and small sculptures. In reality, these parts are fully integrated and my favorite projects are ones where sculptural ideas and connection to the landscape become a part daily living. I’m comfortable working across design styles – equally at home with modern and traditional tastes. Instead, I take a holistic approach, integrating architectural design, landscape design, interior design, and finishes, components, and furniture to create spaces that work for each client. Looking forward to speaking with you soon, Jackie
