The firm was established with the goal of creating a closer relationship between clients, contractors, and architect. It is our belief that this relationship and the need for open communication and collaboration between all parties is essential throughout the design and construction process. We also consider it vital that the involvement of the architect in the construction process should not end when the drawings leave the office. The success of every project can only be measured when all parties involved are satisfied with the overall process, experience, and final outcome. Our goal is to make the overall process enjoyable for all.

Gifford Coastal Architecture was founded on the belief that people's homes should feel like they belong in the environment in which they exist. Perhaps nowhere is this philosophy more important than at the edge of the sea. We specialize in coastal design, addressing and solving the challenges of exposure to the seaside environment while adhering to FEMA rules, state building codes, and local zoning ordinances. With thoughtful consideration to the unique physical characteristics of each site—such as topography, views, prevailing winds, and sun direction—we craft exciting and unique interior spaces with striking exterior architectural form and detail that enhance their surroundings. Gifford Coastal Architecture is committed to addressing the personal needs of our clients through the creation of customized spaces for today’s lifestyles. While most of our work focuses on residential projects on the Southcoast of Massachusetts, the power of the Internet has enabled us to design distinctive homes for distant clients from Wyoming to Florida.
