DeMotte Architects
Sandy Hook, CT Architects and Building Designers
May 23, 2013
We hired Brad to design a spec house for us in Rye, NY. As an Architect myself, I was extremely happy with the quality of work produced and the communication between us. It was a pleasure to work with Brad, and his understanding of our needs and requirements was second to none. Brad listened well to our needs and was able to efficiently express them in graphic form, & he always worked in an organized & professional manner. He was always easily available by phone & email, always returning my calls & emails promptly. The construction drawings were done to be within our construction budget, & when changes were made he was gracious & fair with regard to fees for extra services. He also helped us in selecting materials, & we were happy with those selections & the variety as well. While we haven't started construction yet, on past projects he was always accessible and able to clarify field conditions and changes by clients. We would definitely hire him again, and we would (and have) recommended him to our other clients who were also very happy with his service.
EBA - Eric Baker Architects
Sandy Hook, CT Architects and Building Designers
April 27, 2014
Eric Baker recently served as architect on a very challenging repair project to our hurricane damaged home. Despite the difficult circumstances, he made us feel at ease from the beginning, and was a calming influence through every step of the project. We were very satisfied with the design and the finished product, but equally important, I want to emphasize that Mr. Baker was professional, trustworthy, honest, reliable, and listened closely to our requirements. I would highly recommend him to anyone who is seeking excellent architectural work.
Doyle Coffin Architecture LLC
Sandy Hook, CT Architects and Building Designers
March 18, 2013
I have worked with Peter Coffin of Doyle Coffin Architecture on a number of occasions both as a client (for my own homes) and as a design partner (for our mutual clients). The quality and beauty of Peter's work is undisputable but what I appreciate the most is the quality of the design process - anticipation and understanding of clients' needs, timeliness of delivery and communication skills. Doyle Coffin Architecture is a great asset when dealing with zoning issues and when finding creative solutions to design problems is a must. Peter's team is highly professional and responsive and I am looking forward to my next project with the firm.
Michael LoBuglio Architects

December 30, 2013
A kitchen renovation turned into an expansion of the room. Michael was recommended to me by my brother-in-law who also builds large projects. We found Michael to be prompt in returning calls, on time with appointments and most of all full of great ideas! He showed us his extensive portfolio and we were truly impressed. He is easy to work with mainly because he's a great listener.
Crisp Architects
Sandy Hook, CT Architects and Building Designers
January 9, 2012
Working with Jimmy Crisp and his associates was a great and valuable learning experience that could not have turned out better than it did. Jimmy truly met, and in many instances, went beyond our expectations. The project, which was a complete gut renovation, went very smoothly and it did come in on budget with the exception of new items that were included after our original quote. Of course there were differences of opinions and long discussions about changes/desired outcomes and new costs, however, I would say that because of Jimmy's constant presence at the site, complete knowledge of exactly what was suppose to happen at all stages of the project and calm manner we escaped situations that could, at the time, have been less satisfactory. Jimmy, the associates and clerical employees of his firm are all a 10 in my book! My experience with Crisp Architects makes me believe that anyone seeking a great architect, backed by a most professional staff, could not do better than to choose Crisp Architects.
Duo Dickinson, architect
Sandy Hook, CT Architects and Building Designers
June 29, 2012
We found Duo Dickinson from a search on the web for "award-winning small house architect." His name was the first to pop up. Duo has a splendid website, which includes essays from his prolific writing, radio programs and books. One theme evident with Duo is his work is about the client, not him. He also has a long resume of houses small and grand. And several of his books praise small homes, and practical remodeling fundamentals. We chose to interview him first and never looked at any other architect. After a first date, we were asked to complete a long survey defining who we are and how we see ourselves living in our new home. Then Duo began conversations with the zoning board. Not waiting until we had a plan but from the concept. Duo is also candid and upfront about costs - his and the project's. At this point, since our first meeting in January, we have completed a lengthy survey, sent scores of jpeg photos of designs we like, edited several phases of sketches, and have had three meetings with Duo. He has had several conversation with zoning officials and met with them twice so far. The rest of our work has been done via email. As of now, June, we have reached our latest and most comprehensive version of the cottage. A model is being built to present to neighbors and related zoning boards. The process has been fun, thorough, efficient, and personal. When we ask for a change we get it. His communication is excellent. He is responsive, smart, astute, but plain-speaking. We feel fortunate to have Duo to present our plans in the upcoming approval process. We know we are in capable, kind, experienced and talented hands. And best of all, the cottage will be splendid.

Stewart & Charles shepherded me through an extensive renovation process that I originally found to be daunting. They are a talented, full service, thoughtful and a very personable design team. I was so pleased with the results that I came back to them for a second project. I feel very fortunate to have found and collaborated with Haver & Skolnick Architects Ellie Levine
Douglas VanderHorn Architects
Sandy Hook, CT Architects and Building Designers
May 12, 2014
When my husband and I took on the project of completely renovating an 1846 Greek Revival house in the back country of Greenwich, we ran into difficulties with the architect we had hired. Doug VanderHorn came to our rescue! Many architects might have been unwilling to take on a project that had already started, but Doug, to my everlasting gratitude, not only agreed to work with us, but brought fresh, new, creative and improved ideas to the table. His taste is impeccable and he ended up helping me with all kinds of related issue like bathroom tiles, special effects in moldings and fireplaces and placement of furniture in a difficult room. He is easy to work with and very realistic in his suggestions. I could not recommend him more highly! -Mrs. Russell S. Reynolds, Jr.
