“Nothing about E WORKSHOP is cliché. Having worked with Chris as collaborator and client, I am perhaps in a special place to observe that inherent to his design process are old school values that today sometimes get lost in the pace, namely loyalty and sincerity. When he re-visioned the roofline on our home it brought everything into balance, including budget and construction efficiency. With respect to design itself, materials of beauty, and partnership with you, E WORKSHOP can and will do anything of any scale for your home, from accessory to small or large remodel to new construction. If you are looking for an architecture practice with classical backbone, unremitting attention to quality, and a fresh spirit: this is it.”

“We've toured the residential and commercial projects created on Bainbridge Island by Coates Design, and have followed their work for years. Our office was in the same building, and we often stopped in to learn more about their projects. We've always been impressed by their great architectural sense of aesthetics, and their ability to create innovative work that blends well into the surroundings of the project location. Very professional, very pleasant and very accomplished.”

““Mark was asked to submit a proposal to design a house that I was planning to build in Preston, WA. After interviewing several Architects, Mark's portfolio of previous work was most impressive. He had as many detailed drawings for the meticulous woodwork of the interior of the house (what I was looking for) as he did for the structure / exterior of the house. Since that time, Mark has supported several creative designs to include an in-law apartment and the planning of a home I wish to build in Bend, OR. His responsiveness when I have questions and the ideas he offered have been tremendously helpful and I consider him an ultimate professional in his work. I appreciate his high sense of integrity in all that he does.””

“My husband and I had the privilege of working with Kyle Zerbey on the design and construction of a vacation home in Eastern Washington. Kyle was the associate at the firm we hired and he was our main contact person during the whole process. He went the extra mile in getting to know us and understanding our unique needs. He is super-detail oriented, and did the hard work of narrowing down choices and then presenting us with reasonable options to choose from. He doesn't impose his ideas on you and is fun to work with. We have been enjoying the house tremendously because so much thought was put into designing it so it all works perfectly. Kyle Zerbey is a top-notch professional and I recommend him enthusiastically.”

“Lane Williams took our dated and very tired looking 1960’s one story, pitched roof home with a daylight basement and transformed it into a beautiful modern home with strong horizontal and vertical planes and cantilevered masses. Lane's vision for the house really came together when we decided to spend the money to expand the carport to two cars. We were thinking it might not work, but when he showed us the renderings we both just thought wow – it balanced everything out and got us a look that was spectacular. The finished house got great reactions from the neighbors, and it still thrills us when we overhear the bicyclists as they zip by saying ‘Cool House!’ http://coop15.com/images/house_shows/Enatai/Enatai2before.jpg http://coop15.com/images/house_shows/Enatai/Enatai3.jpg http://coop15.com/images/house_shows/Enatai/Enatai1.jpg”

“We are the owners of the Yum Yum Farm in Iowa. We immediately connected with John and he was truly our Sherpa throughout the conception, design, and construction processes. He translated and expanded/enhanced our ideas into a wonderful home that continues to reveal itself to us and feels more like a part of our family than the shelter in which we live. We strongly recommend a conversation with DeForest architects before making a final decsion!”

“CTA Design Builders is remodeling our master bedroom (with an addition and new deck) and two bathrooms. We live in a mid-century modern house designed in 1962 by Gene Zema. Julie, CTA's architect/owner, admires Zema's work and has worked hard to keep within the original design while updating the house for our current needs. She is a very creative and talented architect and interior designer. The entire crew working on our house, from the lead carpenter, the project manager and the people in the office have all been extremely skillful and great to work with.”
Dana Webber Architect LLC

“Dana Webber’s architectural plans to redesign our circa 1948 kitchen were concise and easy for both the general contractor and custom cabinet contractors to follow. When questions arose her solutions were immediate and pleasing. She made excellent choices of materials and colors. The Marmoleum flooring was reminiscent of the original linoleum floor and the Cobalt Caesar Stone counter tops complimented the new rift sawn Alder cabinetry, which had pullout drawers in place of under counter shelving. Work spaces were well utilized and lighting was excellent. With limited space available, the cabinet depth refrigerator and design of a Dacor cooktop mounted on the counter with a Dacor built-in oven below was very appealing. Installing a recirculating hood and microwave above the cooktop worked great and eliminated the need for instillation of ductwork. The custom cabinet maker installed matching cabinetry in the pantry/utility room. Light passed through obscure glass in the entrance door of the utility/pantry room into the kitchen via a French door, giving the small kitchen a sense of openness. We have nothing but accolades for Dana and the complete kitchen redesign process.”
