Broadhurst Architects, Inc. was established in 2001 as a full service architectural firm with a major focus on high quality residential projects of various scales and programs. Broadhurst Architects has gained a reputation for assisting their clients to achieve well developed, functional, and comfortable spaces that add to their enjoyment of their homes and add pleasure to their lives. Upon receipt of his Masters Degree from the University of Maryland in 1985, Jeffery Broadhurst continued his practical education and development in the office of his Masters Thesis advisor, Stephen Muse, FAIA, and also profited from his association with Gregory Wiedemann, AIA, during their years of partnership. Mr. Broadhurst served as an associate in the firm and benefited from fourteen years of exceptional experience on a multitude of often published and award winning projects. The design philosophy of Broadhurst Architects, Inc. is that all work should be thoughtfully considered, and that the projects should be designed so that they are respectful of their surroundings. Thoughtful consideration includes several aspects. Foremost, an effective architect must be a good listener. Thoughtful design starts with a clear understanding of the client’s concerns, lifestyle, and goals. Successful projects are generated from an open, honest, and collaborative relationship between the owner, the architect, and eventually the contractor. Thoughtful design often means considering various ways that the client’s goals can be achieved. These options are then discussed and the discussions guide the project in the most appropriate direction. Thoughtful design also means careful, realistic consideration of the project relative to the project budget. Broadhurst Architects, Inc. believes that projects should be respectful of their surroundings and context. For some projects, such as an addition to a fine old home, this might mean that the addition is designed to be respectful to the original residence. Building materials, roof shapes, connections, etc., are thoughtfully considered to achieve an appropriate, integrated, and often seamless whole. Projects should also be respectful of their sites, their adjacent neighbors, and the community. Residential additions and new homes should be thoughtfully designed to respond appropriately to the land on which they sit, and to be good neighbors to those around them.
“You cannot create experience; you must undergo it.” Marc O'Grady has a lifetime of hands-on experience in both design + construction. At MARC O’GRADY design, we believe that design and construction should be intertwined with the dreams of our clients and we pride ourselves on quality along with honest and lasting relationships with our clients. Our approach is centered on building strong relationships through honesty and integrity while working together to translate their dreams into a creative design that will allow them to live life to the fullest. Our team is passionate about design and construction and we have immeasurable hands-on experience in both fields. We work side by side with only the best contractors to create a fully integrated process. This innovative process enables us to maintain our clients’ vision from the dream stage to the fulfillment of their completed project and their new life ahead. I was able to develop a passion for architecture and construction at a very young age by growing up in our family construction business. This allowed me a unique opportunity to build a solid foundation through hands-on experience working in the field of residential construction. I was able to gain a wealth of knowledge under the tutelage of my father, teaching me not only about the business but also about working hard, being honest and creating lasting relationships. I then combined this invaluable experience with an education in architecture to begin a career in residential design. I then worked with a variety of architecture firms both large and small to fine tune my design skills and learn to develop relationships with clients and contractors. This experience allowed me the great opportunity to form MARC O’GRADY design+build and continue our family tradition of design and construction.

RÊVE Design Studio, Inc. feels that architecture is the result of process and unexpected inspiration. Illustrated by a body of award winning and publicized work, RÊVE understands that each project is unique. What sets RÊVE apart is their ability to understand the circumstances of a project, from the client's aspirations, to the program, place, codes and ordinances. It is fundamental that RÊVE performs this investigation by thoroughly and methodically interviewing clients, staff, and agencies as well as the land, site, and context as it relates to the program. Contrary to the mythical image of the "artiste" architect, we at RÊVE are not fussy about the particular style of architecture that tickles one's fancy because we love all architecture. Indeed, over the years, our work has nearly covered the history of architecture in terms of stylistic diversity. What we are most passionately fussy about, however, is a commitment to quality—doing it well and doing it appropriately. While our work speaks in the familiar language of history and tradition, we also strive with our buildings to say something new and meaningful to our own time and circumstance. Our buildings and designs have always drawn upon elegance and the comforts of familiarity subtly mixed with modern sophistication. When you think about the way we live today, it's a natural combination—one may drive the latest Porsche, BMW, or Mercedes, or wear Prada, but we still carry with us the genetics of our ancestry and the memories of our lives. This all combines to make us who we are, and our houses should be a masterfully tasteful and lasting reflection of our having passed through this place. RÊVE is licensed to practice Architecture in Washington, DC, Virginia, Maryland and New Mexico. We are members of the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB) as well as the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) Certified Green Professional (CGP) program.

David Miles, owner of The Drawing Board, Inc. graduated from the University of Maryland's newly established School of Architecture with a Bachelor of Architecture in 1978. From there, David worked at a variety of architecture firms, working towards licensure, which he achieved in 1981. Two short years later David set out on his own. Working on a steady supply of commercial projects, such as restaurants, day care centers, churches, and medical facilities, David quickly built up a reputation as a diligent and conscientious architect. As the workload grew in both size and building type, with many new residential projects on the boards, David made the decision to reincorporate with two partners as The Drawing Board, Inc., in 1991. In 2010, David was joined by his son Peter at The Drawing Board. After completing his Master of Architecture degree in December 2015, Peter has decided to join the firm full-time, working daily with David to help the firm adapt to the challenges of the twenty-first century economy. Twenty-five years later, The Drawing Board, Inc. has completed projects throughout the Mid-Atlantic region, and has an diverse and exciting mix of current projects. With the firm now on the leading edge of technological adoption and innovation, we have now turned our attention to discover innovative ways to deliver projects and design services to our clients. The Drawing Board prides itself on maintaining a small network of experts, so when you are in need, you always know who to call and who can help. For both David and Peter, their passions for traveling and photography have found their place as a source of inspiration for their work at The Drawing Board. As an intergenerational firm, we bring different perspectives, skills, and ideas to projects. As a family-owned company, we have the trust and relationships to properly blend the ideas and energy of the younger generation with the wisdom and experience of the older. This trust is critical to our work ethic and process- it allows us to bring you the best of the new, ignoring fads, trends, and other fashionable ideas, while still introducing energy and progress to our projects.
