Eyoh Design
Architectural Design in West Hollywood
Average rating: 5 out of 5 starsJanuary 8, 2016
Dustin and Alex are passionate about what they do and their enthusiasm is contagious. They were incredibly professional and went above and beyond to create a layout that would suit our growing families needs while working within our budget. They redesigned our kitchen, family room and outdoor entertainment area. We plan to do the renovation in stages and they came up with a plan to tackle each phase. We have completed phase one which entailed knocking out our existing fire place that divided our kitchen and family room. We now have an open planned kitchen and living room that has completely transformed our space. We will be renovating our kitchen and entertainment area later on this year and feel confident in all elements of the redesign with direction from Eyoh Design. We look forward to working with them in the future.

Aaron has been helping me build my dream house for the past 3-4 years. He has been a crucial part in getting the design right, the plans approved, all the way down to the final finishes and door knobs. His design sense honors a healthy balance of progressive ideas and functional living.
Jeannette Architects
Architectural Design in West Hollywood
Average rating: 5 out of 5 starsJune 20, 2012
My wife and I hired Jeannette Architects to assist us with a major remodel (interior/exterior) of our 3,500 sq. ft. ranch style home in Newport Beach. The task: incorporate warm contemporary design into our 1970's "woody cabin." As a real estate developer and because it's our third major house remodel there were many design elements we knew we wanted but many more that we needed help with. As capable as Jeff (Jeannette) is with his design sense, we believe that it's his ability to listen to his clients, understand client goals, how we will live in the space and how that fits into our budget is what sets Jeff apart from other architects. The Jeannette team met aggressive time constraints, produced a thorough set of construction documents, were always quick to provide clarification and answers to our questions and were great resources for product and material options and information. True professionals that we would use again and confidently refer to others. Our project is nearing completion and I can't wait to share photos.

M+N were great, they really helped me out of a difficult spot when a contractor made a mistake, and meant we had to re-permit our project. Timely, responsive and communicative. Would recommend.
EZ Plans, Inc

I grew up with a father who is a master contractor. In my adult life, I have been involved in countless home renovations, so I've always thought architects are a waste of time & money. They always seem to be writing checks with the customers' money, and have no basis in reality or practicality: they seem so frivolous. Hubby and I bought a mid-century modern home that had been turned into a tuscan style by the previous owners. (can you imagine?) We needed help getting approval from the local city planning board who are a NIGHTMARE to deal with (average of 8-10 plan checks, most cities do 2-3!?) We hired Glen with EZPlans to help us. Glen handled acrimonious city officials, seeming design impossibilities (and even a few vastly different design ideas between hubby and I) with tact, professionalism, and good humor. Dealing with EZ Plans was a breeze. I am so impressed with their vision, their professionalism, and the very talented, creative (and practical) architects they hire. They are exceptional communicators, and are as intuitive as they are talented. EZ Plans turned a simple contractor grade design we could have come up with ourselves, to a design that respected the mid-century bones of our home, and brought it to the practical standards we needed the home to suit. The design they came up with easily increased the value of our renovation tenfold. the only direction they had from me was "I want to respect the home's bones with materials in their natural element, nothing frivolous, but we need the house to be super specialized for our dogs." (maybe that's a bit frivolous....) They took this and ran with it. Incidentally, they are AVID dog lovers (almost as nutty as hubby and I are, ) so they came up with such cool suggestions that will make our old dogs' lives (and our lives) easier. As someone who has scoffed at the need for an architect, (come on, my dad is a contractor!) I can assure anyone: the design of a talented architect is worlds apart from what a contractor, or even designer, could come up with. They take things to another level. Glen increased the value of the renovation by making the design in line with architectural design elements, not current trends that would be outdated quickly after installation. More importantly, they made changes to the home to fit OUR lifestyle and needs, instead of us changing our needs and lifestyles to accommodate the home. This is the difference: architects build homes, contractors build houses. Hubby and I are so pleased with our experience at EZPlans. They make incredible planning, design and architecture...easy. :)
Sorensen Architects & Interiors
Architectural Design in West Hollywood
Average rating: 4 out of 5 starsSeptember 21, 2012
Sorensen Architects vision is right on schedule with the material chosen for their projects, Steel-Wood-and Nutruel base line material. The flooring to the walls creates a organic setting with nature. We specialize at Malibu Living Home in Sustainable material and Architectural Surfaces, I find the choices Sorensen uses supports that element of comfort with minimal impact . I too live in Malibu for the last decade, what an Architects goal I believe is to bring a seamless union with exterior and interior settings to one living spaces do to the amazing natural beauty that surrounds us here. Sorensen has found that line and design and has beautifully capture that delicate balance.
Make Architecture
Architectural Design in West Hollywood
Average rating: 5 out of 5 starsNovember 4, 2014
We thoroughly enjoyed working with Bill Beauter and Jess Mullen-Carey of MAKE Architecture on our house. We'd worked with another architect but hadn't gotten a design we liked, so we started from scratch and sketched a floor plan ourselves. We even made a cardboard model to show the modern style we had in mind. But we wanted a good architect to give the design the polish it needed. Bill and Jess were recommended to us by a friend of our son. They improved what we had, remaining loyal to our vision while integrating a better roof design that achieved a pleasing volume to the interior, and providing overall coherence to the design. After completing the final plans, they worked with our contractor to make sure the house turned out the way we wanted. Always a pleasure to work with, Bill and Jess gave us great suggestions and were responsive to requests. Every day we admire the lines of our new house. We love living here and are delighted we found such great architects!

Ronnie Gor was the designer for our major remodel project in Tarzana, CA. The work covered a complete remodel of a 70 year-old, ranch-style home and construction of an attached ADU. There are inherent challenges in adding to an older home and creating a seamless whole. Ronnie was up to the task. and willingly worked with our own (me and husband) creative vision through the process. Aside from an overall look and flow, the house could have no unnecessary elevation changes, and no obvious distinction between the old and the new. The design must consider the lot the house is on and address our needs, tastes and budget. Ronnie shone in all areas. The result is a modern home with unique characteristics in both design and function. It is a single structure which, by the closing of a single door, creates two separate and entirely independent homes. Neither infringing on the other. Both are spacious, receive endless natural light, have all the amenities, and each boasting its own two-car garage. Ronnie Gor can fairly be credited with an outstanding job.
