“We were able to build our dream summer home with WLH Custom Homes! Our family cabin (a-frame) burned down during renovations (with a different company), so I wanted to build a new place that was reminiscent of our old one. That proved to be more difficult than I thought, as no builder could produce this for me (to my satisfaction). Until I found WLH! “We were looking at doing a home renovation and had begun shopping around for people capable of design remodels. I had heard about Chad Cornette from a contractor who was doing a renovation for us at work. I didn’t have much to go on, but figured he was at least worth talking to in order to see where he stood on architecture, home construction, modern design, creative use of space, CAD work, and general contracting. It was a pleasant surprise that he was able to tackle all of these things. Chad was very personable, open and honest up front, professional, and came highly recommended. After working with him through this grueling renovation, I too now would recommend him for any design or construction needs, and I plan to use him again in the future. He did an excellent job turning the main floor of our 1965 house into a modern-looking home that better utilized and opened up the space. It was a long 4-month project where Chad listened patiently to the inputs that were given, while jumping in to provide plenty of creative ideas and solutions, all while keeping the budgetary book-ends intact. Overall I felt he was a great communicator of plans, status, costs, and progress. Very responsive to needs and requests (unlike many previous contractors I have worked with) via phone, text or e-mail, on-site regularly, good with the paperwork, flexible, creative, and a pleasure to work with. As the designer, Chad worked closely with us, got our inputs, met with us at the stores and design centers, and kept us up to speed with new and fresh ideas. As the CAD drafter, he laid out the professional floor plans providing plan and section views, made them easy to read and understand, made modifications as necessary, and provided all the necessary documents to the respective trades. As the general, Chad held all the subcontractors accountable to schedules and milestones, was knowledgeable about building codes and processes, and quickly made contacts and adjustments when timelines and/or issues arose. He was able to dive into the details, but always able to pull himself up to see the big picture when necessary. Without reservation I would recommend Chad to anyone planning a job big or small.
