Bluestem Remodeling
3D Rendering Companies in Minneapolis
Average rating: 5 out of 5 starsApril 2, 2025
“Bluestem completed a whole basement transformation (remodel) for me. After consulting other architects and contractors, they provided me with amazing design options within my budget. The results are fantastic and have changed the way I feel about my space. The Bluestem team and their partners were fantastic to work with. I worked from home (with two cats) and the team took care to make sure I had very minimal interruptions and mess. Each and every member of the Bluestem team has been fantastic! - All the carpenters were fantastic at their craft and enjoyable to have in my home each day. In fact, it felt like having handy friends coming in each day. - Stefanie, the designer was a joy to work with. She came in midway into the project and took little crumbs of thoughts I shared and turned them into a cohesive theme. Stefanie didn't miss a beat in turning the few unexpected impediments into opportunities - making the changes seem intentional. There were some staffing transitions during the project that caused some misalignment in our expectations and assumptions, but the team quickly worked to ensure that my needs were met. In fact, I always felt they were doing everything they could to make sure I was delighted. I would absolutely recommend Bluestem to others looking to do a small or large project.”
Sustainable Nine Design + Build
3D Rendering Companies in Minneapolis
Average rating: 5 out of 5 starsFebruary 3, 2023
“The Sustainable 9 design + build process is very collaborative. The initial assessment and intake process ensures that the dream home that lives in your head can find its way onto architectural renderings. Their partners (from vendors, suppliers, architects, and sub-contractors) are professional and best in class, which helps to avoid common building pain points. Lastly, their project management and design team are engaged, helpful, and wonderful to work with.”
McDonald Remodeling
3D Rendering Companies in Minneapolis
Average rating: 4 out of 5 starsOctober 30, 2014
“In general, the whole design and build process went great. The fact that I only had a few quibbles is a testament to McDonald's commitment to service. Going into the project, I had already had heard an earful of horror stories about remodels that had gone way wrong, way over budget and lasted way longer than promised. So--I was prepared to deal with a lot of hassles. I can say that I was pleasantly surprised that the entire process was largely hassle-free. We met with Greg (the company co-owner) initially and he was a very approachable and informative guy. His attitude was basically: if something goes wrong, we will find a way to fix it in a timely and transparent fashion. The design process was fun--involving a lot of collaboration and 3D computer models. My wife had a few concerns about the communication between the designer and Greg--but in the grand scheme of things, these issues were resolved quite quickly and to our satisfaction. McDonald created a firm timeline of the construction process, mapped it out for us and were very diligent about sticking to that schedule. Their subcontractors did solid work and were very friendly and punctual. The project manager Kevin was very responsive to texts, emails and phone calls throughout the process--and always followed up in a timely fashion. The end product turned out great. We really enjoy living in our new space and feel good about the decision to sink the time and money into the project. A few extra notes: I would say that McDonald may not be the company that will get the job done for the lowest bid. Part of what you pay for is the planning, the communication, professional subcontractors, and the reliability (on time!)--which, in a bigger project that takes months, is pretty important. Also--they did a nice job of dealing with a less-than-responsive cork tile company. It took forever to get the cork tiles, but McDonald was on them consistently--advocating for expeditious delivery of our product. When the tiles finally arrived, they were still saturated with water. We waited several days to put them up, but they still shrank on the wall as the tiles lost moisture--exposing the drywall beneath. Pretty ugly. McDonald brokered a deal with the company to get replacement tiles out at no additional cost--and offered to redo the job for free. I think this was the fair and right thing to do--but I can imagine some companies not following through on this. So big picture: they did a great job, they did it on time and they were courteous and fair.”
