“We hired Mimi from Luminosus Designs to redesign for full renovation our master bathroom and an additional bathroom for the kids a few years ago. She did a terrific job of re-creating both rooms that had very bad layouts with lots of wasted space beforehand, and creating clean, beautiful, open and modern yet very useful spaces in both rooms that we all love - which was no small task in our case. She presented high quality, unique and custom elements that we never would have found on our own that make the rooms really shine. “Creating a dream home is both dreamy and stressful. My family and I have had the honor and privilege of getting to work with one of the most talented architects on the planet - not once but twice. Stephen made both dreamy! Our first creation? A from the ground up Africa-inspired retreat in Kennebunkport, Maine on our family compound called Asante Sana ( Sensitive Information Hidden ). Just this morning, I was singing Steve’s praises for his architectural prowess. Our second project: a complete renovation of our home in Sea Cliff, San Francisco ( Sensitive Information Hidden ). Originally architect, Joseph Esherick would be proud. We even named one of our walls at Casa al Mare, the Barlow Wall - in Steve’s honor. There was a culture of sensitivity to our needs throughout the firm and skillful handling of issues as they inevitably cropped up. The firm worked with our century old house to bring it into the modern age, by retrofitting an amazing kitchen into limited space and converting an unusable attic space into a dream master bedroom suite with dormers, increasing our living space significantly. “Claudia was the first architect I interviewed and I liked her so much that I canceled the other two I had scheduled. I have a 130 year old home which needed a full gut remodel, with relocation of the stairway, some new foundation walls, three dormers, a reconstructed front entry porch, and a new back deck. Some exterior walls had to be straightened, and 60% of the floor plan was was change. Throughout the whole process, Claudia was not just professional, she was calm, collected and always in control of every situation. Sure there were bumps along the way - it's not possible to remodel an entire home without some surprises. But in addition to inspiring mine and the contractor's confidence, she was always there to be supportive and helpful with finish out choices. Claudia recommended our contractor, who was also excellent. I highly recommend Claudia for any residential project. She's the best !”
