I think of my role as a problem-solver. Whether that is choosing colors for interiors, designing screens to cut down on privacy invasions, or squaring away details with a contractor, I come up with effective and interesting solutions.

ERIK BJORK ARCHITECT is a full service architecture firm working out of Vancouver Washington. Erik is licensed in both Washington and Oregon, and would like the opportunity to share his philosophy of and approach to architectural design with you: As the owner of a small firm that has varied in size from 1 to 4 employees, reflecting the philosophy of purposefully staying small, I have been able to enjoy doing a wide variety of designs. My firm has helped create numerous new and remodeled homes, churches, and clinics, however our bread and butter has been office and business park design. We also provide design and working details for the repair of defective buildings. Unlike principals of larger firms, I have found that the opportunity to do much of the design and computer work myself allows me to do what I love most, and be where I am most productive. Because of this I have the best chance to please my clients. I also enjoy immensely the opportunity to develop a personal relationship with each and every one of them, both new and old. My firm has served the local area for 32 years now, and I attribute that longevity to hard work and sensitivity. At this time, I am striving to expand the residential side of our design mix and find it surprising that so many people think that because we do business parks that we are somehow less qualified to do excellent work in home design. In our history we have been involved with over 50 new or remodeled house designs, all of them custom crafted to the every need of our clients. People are often surprised by the end result, not being used to getting exactly what they want, but that is what architecture is all about. And our residential experience also extends to apartment projects. I did my first project, covering a five-year time span, with over 100 units, in 1982. If your project needs innovative solutions while saving you money both in the design and in the construction phase call us. Our low overhead makes that possible. On the other hand, our years of experience equip us with design skills and construction knowledge that work best with qualified builders; those we know or the one you select, while meeting the demands of our rainy climate. Give me a call and I can answer a few questions and / or sketch for you some preliminary ideas. If you like, we can provide a quote so that you will see how truly competitive we can be.
For reviews, see www.houzz.com/pro/stephericson/inchoate Why "inchoate"? | in.cho.ate \ in-koh-it \ | Inchoate comes from a Latin word for beginning. When something is inchoate, although you don’t yet understand what it is fully, you have a strong sense that it is indeed coming. It’s stronger than the wisp of an idea that never turns into anything. But it’s hard to really find the language to describe an inchoate idea. That’s the whole point: you don’t have the words for it yet! For us, inchoate means just beginning to form. You can have an inchoate feeling, like those first butterflies when you meet someone new. Or you can have an inchoate idea, like the earliest flickers of images for your masterpiece... We turn houses into homes, guiding clients through all phases of design and construction, helping with every step of the process from site analysis through schematic design and construction documents, from permitting to construction. We have offices in Los Angeles, CA and Portland, OR. See our Los Angeles Houzz site here: www.houzz.com/pro/stephericson/inchoate Feel free to email us at firstname.lastname@example.org with any question, large or small.
