“I worked with Claude C Lapp (Chris Lapp) to design a custom home in Bethesda, MD in late 2020. Chris and his team delivered a beautiful and functional design. He does almost all the houses in the Bethesda area, so if you want something that fits the look & feel of the neighborhood, there isn't anyone else I would consider. Chris is very professional, intelligent, and reasonable. The only minor thing to be being aware of, is that he, like every other successful architect, relies on a team of architects to perform a lot of the bulk/manual work, and this means sometimes you may need to go through a few iterations to get to the final product that you and Chris had envisioned. That said, I am a very detail-oriented person and had very specific design requirements for our house, so this won't even be on the radar for 95% of clients. If you don't have an opinion for the placement of every particular window, soffit, etc., down to the fractional inch, then you will have an even smoother experience getting to a good design. Even if you do feel strongly about each little detail, you'll still get to a good outcome, it just may take a few more iterations. I don't think you will get a better outcome or value without paying 3x (aka the price of a senior architect like Chris to be dedicated to your single project end-to-end - which I don't even think you can find anywhere, as it's not easy to get this much time from a good, in-demand, architect like Chris). I would highly recommend working with Chris Lapp and his team for any of your architectural needs. Thank you Chris & team for architecting our future home!”

“I contacted Nehemiah Construction in September of 2020, after spending about a month doing research into trying to find the right match for the job we needed done on our home. When they showed up in my queue on Houzz, I checked their previous work reviews and they seemed impeccable. Chris came out to provide us with an assessment and immediately noticed the problem: improper (and in some cases, a complete lack of ) installation of waterproof flashing in our Hardywood Board siding as well as the windows. Additionally, all of the wooden window frames (as well as door frame for our rear kitchen door) utilized untreated wood that had a simple coat of latex paint. In short, the entire rear of our condominium was not waterproof, and water was beginning to intrude into the dry wall. Within a week of drawing up and agreeing on a contract, Chris had his team sent out to our house. Scaffolding was erected, and the entire rear side of the house was waterproofed and repaired (and in cases involving the wooden frames, completely replaced) in a single day. I cannot stress how professional and fast this company is! I absolutely recommend doing business with them!”

“Paola One Design is one of the DC-area’s finest residential architects and designers. Two of her recent projects have been/will be featured in our modern architecture tours in the DC-area. We chose her works as they are true shining examples of how to breathe new, modern life into an older home. In 2018 she completed a renovation and modern addition to a 1938 Tudor style home in Bethesda. With help from original drawings, she focused on rediscovering the home by eliminating the haphazard 1980s additions and marrying a new, modern addition to the older, elegant design. The new addition forms an L-shape with the original house and pays homage to it by using a modern version of the same industrial materials: metal, brick, glass, concrete, wood. The result is a warm and inviting home with a more functional sequence of spaces that lends itself to a contemporary lifestyle. In 2019, she is finishing another renovation and addition; this time to a 1950’s brick rambler, that carefully preserves most of the original footprint, while adding a new life and (literally) new levels of modern living to the property. Paola is dedicated to her clients and shows the utmost care and love for each of her projects and clients. It is rare to find such expertise and attention to detail combined with such an amazing attitude and positive approach to all projects and clients. I cannot recommend Paola One Design (both the work and the person) enough, especially if you have an older home that you are looking to update.”
