“Yes... Arsen is the architect you want to hire for your project. There's a long list of reasons why, but at the top of my list are the three P’s of professionalism, personality, and price. Professionalism – Arsen is an expert in every facet of residential construction from basement drains up and through chimney exposures. In the very rare case he doesn’t know the answer, he doesn’t BS you…he tells you he’ll look into it find out and he does – quickly. Doesn’t matter if it’s something as basic as the standard height for kitchen counters or esoteric as the shear strength of a 10’ Yellow Pine 2x6, he knows his craft. Equally as impressive is how adept he is with the design program he uses. Think you’re pretty good with Word or Excel? Well…I’m pretty sure he’s even better with whatever it is he uses. And that’s a huge, direct benefit for you. There will be innumerable times when you’re on a video conference with him reviewing your design, and you’ll want to make a change or see something a little differently. In a manner of seconds, he can do it. So nice. Personality – For some inexplicable reasons, way too many architects are enamored with their title and come across as arrogant pr*cks. Not Arson. Good guy and I mean that in the most positive, non-sexist, way possible. He’s the kind of guy you welcome on your fishing boat. The guy you’re happy to have a beer with or catch a game with. Always polite and respectful. Deferential to your desires and even weird ideas. I told him I wanted a fireman’s pole in the house...he did it. Had to change plans…wife didn’t want a fireman’s pole in the house…he came up with the perfect (at least for us) compromise of a rope. Same support for a hidden bookcase door and hidden trap door to basement. Genuinely a good person and very easy to work with. Price – Architects ain’t cheap. Supply and demand rules their cost structure and becoming one isn’t easy. Years of formal training and demanding testing limit the supply. We’re currently in a housing boom so you’d expect to pay a lot for their services. Arsen isn’t free but he is very reasonable…for now. My suggestion is to lock him in quickly before it’s too late. Stop wondering…pull the trigger. He’s The One.”

The end result was the space I've always wanted...but it started with Tom helping me figure out the best use of space and features that really made the rest of the project a breeze. I had never worked with an architect but it was the best decision I could have made. Tom and I talked through what I thought I wanted (a large bar, home work area, bathroom, and home theater) and he came back with several drawings and iterations that went beyond what I could envision on my own. From there he worked with me to combine several different ideas until we had the final plans. Being able to provide measurements and dimensions to the contractors throughout the process was invaluable. There was never a question of what went where or the measurements of a wall or room - Tom nailed it and his plans were flawless. I hope to work with Tom again....there would be no reason to look for another architect. His pricing is fair and honest for the product he produces.”
