We are a small architecture firm that is rooting in our rural Utah values. We believe in hard work and using simple materials to achieve great effect. Our experience ranges from garage remodels to large multi-family projects and everything in between. So what is with our weird name? One of the phases of the architectural process is called developed design, or design development. This is the time when an idea (or a dream) is turned into something that can be built. We have always enjoyed this time. It can be one of the more difficult times of design. If you are not careful it can be easy for the initial goals of the project to get lost. It is really important to be checking decisions against those goals, or you can end up with the project that is easiest, not the one that fulfills your original goals. Our goal is to break this complicated process down into simple, understandable steps, helping our clients ideas get built. So we chose the phonetic spelling of the name to show that we are trying to make the difficult process of developing designs as simple as possible.
I have been in the construction industry since 1996. I started framing homes and after 7 years I decided I was done working out in the cold weather so while working full time I attended ITT technical Institute. I had to take a year off school because of a motorcycle accident which left me paralyzed from the shoulders down “quadriplegic”. After getting back to school I graduated with an Associates degree in architectural drafting and design in 2006 and immediately started designing custom homes. My experience physically building homes has given me a better understanding of how building elements coincide one with the other and how some things might look good on paper but do not materialize in the real world. At J Lonnie Fox Drafting & Design I strive to take your ideas combined with my real-world design experience and come up with a home that it’s perfect for each client. I work to create beauty, functionality, efficiency and flow so your house is somewhere you can call home.
So far, I'm just in school. I plan to graduate in spring of 2016 with an AAS in interior design. I am a 4.0 student and President of the Interior Design Club. My favorite classes so far have been Color Theory and Drafting.
