Tali Hardonag Architect
Handicap-Accessible Design Companies in San Francisco
Average rating: 5 out of 5 starsFebruary 26, 2012
“Tali, with her professional skills and her unusuall ability to LISTEN and take in all the details and requests that we had for our complete renovation of our 60 year old ranch style home, created for us (and for anyone that comes in) a welcoming, comfortable, interesting and rejuvenating home. Throughout the whole project, from the conception stage until the completion we felt that Tali is not only a hired professional but also a parter and a friend. Another aspect of Tali's professionalism and good nature was evident when she had to communicate her vision and her plans with all the other professionals that took part in this project. ”

“I'm a General Contractor who has worked with Jeff and his firm on multiple projects. Jeff's ability to listen to a clients ideas and wishes and to incorporate those into a design that falls into the clients budget and schedule is exemplary. He believes in the "Team" approach where designer, builder and owner work together to achieve the desired goals. As such the entire project becomes an organized and enjoyable experience for all involved. I would highly recommend Jeff and his firm for any project you may be thinking of doing.”
Studio Terpeluk

“I am an interior designer and have worked with Bret Terpeluk and his studio in 3 different projects of different sizes and had an amazing experience. In the three cases he was hired by my clients after meeting him and hearing his ideas and design process after interviewing with other prospective architects. Bret is very creative and experienced, and is able to understand the client’s needs and come up with amazing design and then take that into plans and help through the whole process from getting permits to completion of the project. He has impeccable taste and is very easy to work with and with great communication. I HIGHLY recommend his studio to my clients and anybody who is looking for a great architect.”

“We worked with Alexandra for a rebuild of our home, upgrading it from a 3bd/1.5 bath to a 4bd/3.5bath while adding a second floor and changing the layout of the house dramatically. We chose Alexandra based on two critical expectations: that she would be good to work with (after all, you spend countless hours with your architect on a very expensive project), and that she would share our philosophy regarding the importance of combining form and function in house design. We were very lucky to have chosen her. Alexandra indeed spent countless hours with us. She paid careful attention to our wishes and needs. She worked patiently through every detail of the house, helping us maximize not only our living space but also important functional aspects of the house. From beautifully located and proportioned stairs to storage for kids backpacks under an entryway bench and built-in cabinets to roof segments and their slopes, everything was thoughtful, detailed, and practical. Alexandra also showed great professional and personal skill in navigating the permitting process, developing a good relationship with the city’s planning department that allowed us to enjoy all the benefits of the zoning code. She was always ready to help and mediate successfully when issues inevitably came up with our contractor. She followed through with everything she said she would in an even, friendly, and professional manner. We are delighted with our home and, truth be told, also take joy in the many compliments we get from anybody who visits our home or even passes by it. Alexandra was wonderful and we can’t recommend her highly enough.”

Atelier Essex

“Great experience working with Atelier Essex on the design of our office. The project involved tailoring a 10,700 sf for our team, including a general refurbishment, phone/ethernet wiring, 3 meeting rooms, a custom kitchen and a game room. Pebel did a great job, she was recommended by a friend she did a house for. She understood what we wanted quickly and her work as well as the contractor costs stayed in budget. Most of the work/meetings were remote but that wasn't an issue, she was easy to get in touch with and very responsive. Turn-around time was very fast.”
Klopf Architecture
Handicap-Accessible Design Companies in San Francisco
Average rating: 5 out of 5 starsFebruary 23, 2014
“My HOA hired Klopf Architecture to design new fences, front gates, lighting and paint color plans for our condominiums. They were designed in 1963 by Quincy and Jones and built in 1964 by Eichler Homes. Replacements in the 1990s did not serve the mid-century aesthetic well -- but owners did not want to return to the light-inhibiting original thin-line panel fences and gates. The Klopf team produced three outstanding options. The one we selected includes brilliant design features like frosted glass doors with 1/4-in spaces between fence boards to allow light in along with clear glass doors for the pool area with 1/2-in spaces between boards surrounding it. The overall design and color plan is clean and elegant. John Klopf and his team could not have been more friendly and flexible throughout. We look forward to implementing this design over the next few years.”
Dotter & Solfjeld Architecture + Design

“We worked with Dotter & Solfjeld most recently to design an Italian villa on a hillside in Saratoga, CA. This was actually our third project together as they worked on an expansion and remodel of our previous house in Palo Alto as well. As soon as we bought the lot in Saratoga Russ and Wencke, of D&S, began studying the landscape, spending significant time at different points in the day to intimately understand the light, the views and the flow of the hillside. Russ and Wencke are experts at both exterior and interior architecture and design, and they are an amazing team! Once they felt they knew the property, they spent time with us to understand what we liked and disliked and then began designing our house based largely on Italian building principles of thick walls and simple, yet elegant, construction. D&S involved us in every step of the process and ensured we were completely comfortable with each phase of the design before moving forward. They totally went above and beyond the call of duty by diligently working with our planning department and even one neighbor. They were our advocates with the City and were clearly extremely well respected by everybody they interfaced with. During the building process, D&S worked closely with our contractor and foreman to ensure that the project ran smoothly and stayed on budget. Often times, there is tension between architects and contractors, but our contractor loved working with D&S. Some of our friends have also used D&S to design ultra modern homes...D&S is super versatile and we unequivocally and enthusiastically recommend them.”

“Christie was our architect for a very transformative remodel of our entire house. From a very dated 1970's styled house, that was built originally in the 1920's. She was everything we needed in an architect. Creative, responsive, and very professional. We would highly recommend her services.”
