We had a terrible experience that led to us being stringed along and delayed for ~2.5 years before we were dropped by this company. The communication was terrible and we did not find them trust worthy. We were left with expensive plans, a lot of time lost, emotional exhaustion and back at square one.

I can’t say enough about how great it was working with 2SL! We set out to add a story to our house, and make the existing layout more usable, while staying true to the original home's coziness and charm. We saw our vision blossom in front of our eyes, and we could not be happier! No detail was overlooked nor crazy request dismissed; it felt like a true collaboration from the initial design phase all the way through to our move-in. The whole team was thorough, detailed, and offered creative solutions when necessary. We are incredibly grateful to have had this opportunity, and will have no hesitation about hiring them again for any future renovations.

2SL was recommended by our son because they did such an outstanding job with their addition. Let me say that they maintained that 5 Star rating with our project as well! We added a large porch, stone fireplace and new kitchen! Always attentive, on time and exemplary workmanship! If you want a project done right- call them!

In the summer of 2015 I retained 2SL Design Build and John Seibert to design and build a new house. I had a vision of what I wanted the house to be which included the influence of Frank Lloyd Wright design. John Seibert and his team, designed a house that made a reality of my vision. John is a careful listener, flexible and open to owner desires. Yet, he will work to maintain the creative design. I was most impressed with 2SL's Project Manager, Zach Fox. He was always on site, always willing to talk and listen and explain. In addition, he is very creative and personally designed many of the house interior features which enhanced the overall design. Zach had an excellent team of subs who were skilled, dedicated to their work and pleasant to be around. The house has a good deal of woodworking, including a beautiful interior staircase which John designed and was built and finished beautifully. (See photos on 2SL). The house was built in about nine months. The top rating is well deserved and I believe that anyone hiring 2SL will be extremely pleased.

Fromm beginning to end this job was outstanding. On schedule, excellent quality, and slightly less than forecasted cost. Having had prior experience with other contractors was never even close to 2SL. We highly recommend 2SL for any work that is important to you.John Sibert and company were a joy to work with.

2 SL Design Build conducted a three-year complete historic renovation of a broken down 4 apartment conversion house in Historic Oakwood, Raleigh, NC back into a gorgeous neo classical revival 4-bedroom home. They took care of it all: design work, permitting work, demo work, foundation work, framing work, restoration of historic windows and doors, HVAC work, electrical and plumbing work, drywalling, new stairs, new kitchen and bathrooms, and a beautiful sanding and finishing of the wooden floors. They have extensive architectural and decorating knowledge. The house is now on the 2016 Builders Tour for the Raleigh area. Job well done with almost no complications.

We had a wonderful experience with 2SL Design Build. Their work is exceptional and detail-oriented, from the beginning of demolition to the final clean up. We have never known a contractor to be as responsive and on task. They were there when they said they'd be and responded to every concern we had along the way. We cannot recommend 2SL highly enough for incredible renovation services. It was a true pleasure to work with them and we hope to hire them again for future renovation projects.

2SL did a fabulous job on the renovation of our 1925 bungalow, completely gutting our kitchen and adding almost 1,000 square feet on the second floor. John and Lina were great to work with on our plans; they listened carefully to what we wanted and incorporated our ideas in ways that made sense. They collaborated with us to keep the historical character and feel of the house, overcoming several design challenges along the way. Throughout construction, our project manager was easy to work with and also listened to our ideas about what and how we wanted things done. He was great at translating our layperson's thoughts into construction terms that the crew could implement and make reality. Time and budget were critical for us as we needed to finish our project before historic tax credits expired. 2SL paid close attention to the timeline and got our project finished in time. They also worked with us to stay close to our original budget. Overall, we are extremely pleased and would highly recommend them.

Almost 2 years in the making... Thank you 2SL Design Build Collaborative for realizing our vision. Thank you to all the LOCAL craftsman (Wood Products, Dakota Fab & Welding, Rainbow Upholstery) that put their hearts and hands into our basement home project. A very special thanks to our builder, Alan at 2SL, for his pursuit in perfection. A long process but well worth the final product! Still working on punch list... We appreciate their constant attention to the details and ownership of the project. Hope to pursue further home projects with 2SL!

The architects and the project manager are insightful and knowledgeable. Collaborative is a great description of the 2SL team because their style is also collaborative with the client. Not only do they understand what I envision but they figure out how to accomplish it. I am in the midst of a renovation project with them right now, so I do not yet have photos to share. Despite the typical surprises that accompany any project on a 100-year-old building, the 2SL team is keeping the project moving along. I especially appreciate their attention to detail and the quality of their subcontractors.

2SL did a beautiful job designing our renovation and major addition! They really listened to what was important to us and delivered. The new construction blends seamlessly with the existing house and neighborhood. Plus, the Siberts and their extended family of employees are all delightful, caring and professional; the kind of people you want to invite into your home and life! I will absolutely hire 2SL again for any future architectural needs.

2SL desgined and managed the total renovation/reconstruction of our Montessori school, which was relocated from a leased space less than one mile away. Principals at 2SL met with owners (one who also runs the school) to take into consideration all of the aspects we wanted in our school as it related to the Montessori philosophy, connection to the environment, rules and regulations required to operate a childcare center in Raleigh, NC, and general aspects of creating a nurturing early childhood educational setting. We couldn't have been more pleased with the quality of the design, the quality of the craftsmanship, and especially with the team approach that was necessary to see this project through to completion. We faced many, many hurdles and together (and especially with the engaged principals of 2SL) we overcame all of the obstacles and opened on time. 2SL worked closely with us to stay within our budget and the only overruns were either change orders requested by us OR by changes that were required by the city that had been unanticipated.

Great group to work with. They designed a master bath, closets, large den, landscaping, and garage. House was locate in historic district built in 1891. Met with county historic district commission on plan approval. What was nice is they also build so it was dealing with one group who did both.very accommodating. Neat clean considerate. Dave the foreman would come by no matter the time and talk about the days work. Couldn't ask for better.

After 15 years of marriage and a growing family...we decided it was time to build our dream kitchen and add some much needed space. John and Lina Sibert(2SL)...did just that. They drew up beautiful plans that worked to blend with our existing 1950's downstairs original space..(This was our second addition on the house) Our old tiny kitchen was sliced in half...providing a new laundry room and hallway. A beautiful kitchen/transitional living space was added(including an 80"x80" corner banquette), screen porch, decks, a small basement(we had no basement or garage) and side entry mud room. A couple plans "evolved" as we went along. We are beyond thrilled with the finished product!!(This was a much different/positive experience from our first addition in 2000 with a different design build company).WE can't say enough about our wonderful project manager Zach...always thinking and attentive! From Julia in the cabinet department to the sub contractors...everyone was friendly and professional. We recommend 2SL Design Build to anyone.

The renovation completed by 2SL included a kitchen remodel, addition of a screened porch, installation of wood floors throughout the 1st floor and extensive landscaping. Their work was outstanding with great attention to detail as well as respect for our space and time. I would recommend 2SL with no reservations.

Completely remodeled kitchen, opened wall between kitchen and LR, reworked space to include laundry room, built screened in porch, built TREK deck around above ground pool, enlarged master closet, updated two full baths. Great company to work with, always concerned about pleasing client, would hire again.

2SL is just completing a custom home for us. We are very pleased with both the results and the way the entire process has worked with them. The home they designed for us is truly beautiful and very well fitting with our personal design preferences. The quality of the finished product is excellent. I am most impressed with the way the architect guided and accompanied us throughout the project, not just at the initial design phase. They were even part of the interior furnishing selection for the home since they seem as interested as we are in achieving an overall result in which everything works together to create a beautiful space. All of the members of the design and construction team were professional and pleasant to work with. I would definitely use this firm again for a future project.

John and Alan Silbert at 2SL Design did a great job remodeling our kitchen, bathroom and laundry room. We are very pleased with the result.

2SL designed and built an addition to our house. We expanded the Kitchen, added a breakfast area and office space, as well as a new deck with an expanded outdoor area with covered storage. John and Lina were just great. They planned and executed everything. They took the time to make sure the addition would handle our growing family. It was not easy, because we were expecting our second child at the time of the renovation. They did not meet our expectations, they far exceeded them.

2SL did a beautiful job remodeling our home--all new paint inside and out, new hardwoods, a kitchen renovation and a gorgeous new library. We couldn't be happier!

We are very pleased with a major renovation to our house. 2SL gutted our kitchen, den and bathroom, added a 10' x 10' section and opened the kitchen and den into one large room. Their design ideas were excellent, their project manager was great on details and had innovative approaches to enhancing the design. Over a year and a half after completion we still marvel at our new space and the quality work 2SL provided.

We hired 2SL to draw plans for an addition to our 1920's era house, and using those plans, we hired them to do the contracting work. Our main goals were to expand common living space, move our laundry room near the bedrooms, add an office, add a screened porch, add a half-bath, and create more space for overnight guests. We had a great experience working with John and Lina on the design project and then with Alan on the build. Because of numerous quirks with our old house, we changed several things along the way. Alan is also an architect so was able to seamlessly make adjustments as needed. Some parts of the project needed to be figured out as we went along, and Alan came up with great solutions. I also appreciated Alan's clear and regular communication via email. It helped us both keep track of pending issues and overall progress. We have been very pleased with the outcome. As with most projects of this size, various small issues have arisen, and 2SL responded promptly to take care of them.

I have been working with 2SL for almost 5 years as one of there sub contractors and have only good thing to say about them . They have been great to work for and do quality work .

2SL designed and built our beautiful, one-of-a-kind custom home. They are honest, creative, conscientious and reliable. We couldn't be happier with our decision to use 2SL for all of our design, architectural and building needs. They are a unique combination of experience and expertise. This mix of expertise is simply not available from other custom home / architectural firms.

We chose 2SL Design Build for our whole house renovation and additions after an extensive search and evalutaion of available contractors. We selected them because they had in-house design and also did the construction/renovation. The selection was one of the better decisions we have made. First, the relationship with the Siberts was exceptionally cordial and we have become friends since. The Superintendent on the job kept us informed at all times, kept us in the loop in making decisions on choices we should make, and selected and managed the subs carefully. Progress was as predicted and there were NO delays on the project as there were workmen on the job every day, weather permitting. As an indication of how well the work was scheduled, there was not one day, to my knowledge, when we waited for an inspection, nor was there a delay due to a failure to pass an inspection. The craftsmanship was excellent and the subs were very professional, considerate and courteous. In summary, the Siberts provided us the house we wanted that fits us perfectly. We are proud, pleased and more than willing to show it off.

My wife and I hired 2SL several years ago (after interviewing five architects) to design and build an addition onto our 1965 ranch house. John was the only architect to really listen to our initial thoughts and bring a truly different plan and vision for our home. He worked with us to incorporate our thoughts and needs and was very patient throughout the process. When the construction phase began, we very much enjoyed working with Alan and his calm demeanor in what is arguable a stressful time for our family (we lived in the house during the remodel). Despite all of the planning, issues will pop up during a renovation - both Alan and John handled all of our issues with grace and fairness. Above all, 2SL was upfront and VERY honest about our process from start to finish; I did not think such existed in that industry but they changed our minds. If we were to work on another home, I would not call anyone else. We strongly recommend 2SL.
