I hired 450 Architects to help me remodel my 3 bdrm 1 bath home in San Francisco. As it turns out it was the best thing I did. Despite being in construction all my life and currently a construction manager, the expertise and attention to detail 450 Architects provided was worth every penny. Headed by proprietor Richard Parker, the staff at 450 Architects evaluated all the possibilities of my efforts, In the end this provided me with an unimaginable design where I benefited not only remodeling the kitchen and 1 bathroom but ended up with two new bathrooms and a completely updated and spacious kitchen all within the same foot print of the foundation. The weekly meetings with the contractor proved invaluable as there were hidden unforeseen conditions that required solutions for the contractor to implement. To say that I would recommend 450 Architects for any project is an understatement. The company boasts numerous accolades and has been recipient of "Green" Building awards for projects. I have hired 450 Architects on 3 separate occasions. The first was to design my house, the second was to design a stand alone leasing office for one of my apartment complexes and the third time was to design my office space on the San Francisco waterfront. They are a wonderful, thorough and meticulous architectural firm, with a gifted design sense. There will be no surprises working with them, and their priority is what the client needs and desires. 450 Architects designed our house in Sausalito, completed in 2007. In 2012 we were not looking to move to Sausalito, rather our original idea was to move to the city to be close to our grown children. We saw the house, fell in love with it and from that point could not look anywhere else. It has a sense of place on the hillside, amazing and ever changing views and every detail of proportion and materials is thought through to provide a warm, aesthetically pleasing and functional home. The house had been empty for a while and after moving in we found certain repairs where necessary. At the same time we wanted to add a deck trellis which although part of the original plans had not been realized. While only a small project we appreciated the support from the firm…the involvement right down to the smallest details, general responsiveness, the willingness to help at the city, attending visits on site to monitor progress. Actually it’s more than that, it’s the feeling that the house is still part of 450 Architects.

My partner and I recently collaborated with 450 architects on a kitchen and bath remodel in San Francisco. The entire team is a pleasure to work with, they are knowledgeable, professional, creative and meticulous. I was particularly impressed with attention to detail, which is so important in minimalist design! The final product was a pristine result of respectful collaboration of the architects, the client and crafstmen, and it looks fantastic! We hired 450 Architects for an extensive renovation and addition, and have been thrilled with every aspect of working with them. David has designed an outstanding home for us that embodies what we wanted and how we live. Furthermore, every time we have a new idea for something we could do in our home, from holding a workshop or offering a space for a new venture, to hosting a children's playgroup, we find that the space can accommodate these new ideas seamlessly and beautifully. We are also very happy and excited about the relationship of our new house to the outside yard space and the city. 450 also has extensive experience with green building practices, and has done LEED certified projects for schools and other buildings. They are helping us design a Passive House certified home with high levels of insulation and a heat recovery ventilation system to ensure fresh clean air while conserving energy, as well as meeting several other goals such as Net Zero energy consumption. They have also supported us in investigating technologies such as composting toilets for our home, and specifying a greywater system for irrigation. Finally, 450 has worked with our structural engineers to specify additional measures that add only a small premium to construction cost but strengthen the home considerably to reduce possible earthquake damage. Overall, our experience is that 450 is willing to push the envelope of building design and construction, and they are fearless in exploring new technologies.
