About Us

Andre Pierce Architecture is a small design practice with a rich history. Building on a tradition of tailored designs marked by their superior material and spatial qualities, we carry forward the work of Gordon Pierce's 60 year practice, starting with his career as a project architect during the founding and development of Vail, Colorado. With projects in the San Francisco Bay Area and Lake Tahoe, Colorado and Rocky Mountain West, to international resort destinations, the firm offers customized architectural services for clients wishing to build a single family home or a development team planning to construct a large scale resort destination. Our design mantra is optimize rather than maximize, which leads to successful, financially viable projects - large and multi-faceted or modest in scale. We do not impose a signature style; our designs reflect each client's unique personality and vision. Our work has been featured in national publications, including a cover article in Architectural Digest, as well as in the self-published books of three of our clients who proudly documented the thoughtful integration of architecture and nature that is our founding hallmark.

We found Andre Pierce, AIA, through a rather circuitous network of contacts. And, we couldn't be more delighted. We had become frustrated with others who didn't get what we were trying to build. After one meeting with Andre, he developed a concept design that was perfect. He listened, got what we wanted, improved our ideas, and understood our urgency. He guided and supported us through the permit process and went the extra mile to move our plans through the process quickly. We feel so lucky to have found Pierce & Frye Architects. We met with several architects prior to learning about Pierce & Frye, but after meeting with Andre and Gordon the deal was sealed. We loved their ability to listen and they had a sincere desire to provide us with exactly what we wanted. When we first began working on the plans I was asked to provide a wish list of what I wanted in my dream home. A week later I handed them a 6 page list. It’s a wonder they didn’t walk out the door and not come back. Instead, we worked and worked until I got EVERY thing on my list checked off. They never made me feel like I was asking too much and they always assured me that we would nail it…..and we did. In the end, Pierce & Frye has designed the most functional, heart-warming home we could dream of. It is filled with nooks and crannies to give it that sense of special we were hoping for – cozy window benches, interior trellises with character, deep set windows, etc. We are so thankful to Pierce & Frye Architects for creating such a beautiful home, and for making our first home building experience a fun and enjoyable one.

Our expectations have been far exceeded by the amazing services and the quality design work provided by Andre and Gordon Pierce of Pierce Frye Architects. From start to finish they have assisted us in achieving the reality of an idea that we formulated in our heads, something very different than your run of the mill home. With an eye to detail and insight for the real life application of each element of our home, Andre made sure that we had function and flow while we kept to our style. Being able to draw from Gordon's years of experience and European architecture knowledge really tied our project together. Working with Pierce and Frye has been a very enjoyable experience. They have made, what can be a stressful and trying time making design decisions with your family, a smooth process. They helped us stay calm and focused throughout each step. No task was out of the question and if it didn't "work" with the plan they always had, what seemed to be a better idea than ours. They have helped us with the entire process from hiring a builder, sitting in on interviews, to mapping out a timeline task and making sure we stay on it. The design Pierce and Frye created for us is a perfect marriage of who our family is and what our family needs. An architect needs to be an artist, a listener, an engineer and an organizer. Pierce and Frye were all these things and more.
