I worked as an art consultant with Anthony on a project to build a retreat center in Greece and in the visioning stages of the project. I saw how Anthony worked with his clients in helping them get to the soul of their dreams and making them real. He has a gentle guiding quality that brings out what the client really wants, even before they know it. Anthony listens and then adds his own brilliant touch that is never out of line or controlling. I have seen Anthony take a raw hillside and sculpt it into terraces to build on in the most magnificent way. I have seen him take a client's elusive ideas and turn them into the tangible reality of a place that nurtures and inspires those who dwell within it. Anthony has played an ongoing and integral part to our Eco-art project on Corfu Island in Greece. Initially his work was about connecting our hearts to the land thereby 'listening' to the silent place where creativity marries human with the elementals. This etheric process was followed up by the well informed pragmatic capacity of Anthony's varied experience and knowledge about sacred architecture, holy landscapes, and life honouring eco-building techniques combined with an ease of communication with local experts and labour force. Tony Lawlor did the design work for our foundation work (TKF ) at the Western Corrections Facility in Western Maryland. He conducted the visioning effort by the staff and inmates in a way that was inclusive ,sensitive and brilliant. He was directly involved in the successful construction of the sacred place garden in the middle of the corrections facility which involved complicated oversight due to the difficulty of construction in a space that needed to be secure at all times. I know that the inmates and staff who are users of this space were and are very enthusiastic about his work. The design and its execution has created a lasting treasure for those clearly in need of a place for reflection and personal development.

Anthony Lawlor has designed a wonderful house for me in the country outside Petaluma. I am so happy with the way he interpreted my unformed thoughts about something modern & sleek & at the same time rural & quiet. He had designed a remodel of the victorian house of some neighbors of mine & done a beautiful job there, so I was pleased that he was available to help me with my project. My house should be underway soon. The planning process has been full of complications. From the start, Anthony has been exceptionally pleasant to work with, efficient, insightful, resourceful, respectful of my ideas but ready to redirect with wise & creative ideas. He knows how to work with the Planning & Building Departments in Marin county & has taken care of so many details with great patience & good humor. When we first started, he said that we would have fun with this house. This was just the message I needed to hear, as building a house from scratch can seem intimidating at times. Anthony inspired confidence & Ultimately, I couldn't have picked a better architect.

Anthony Lawlor is a joy to work with. His approach was collaborative, and he was highly skilled at helping us decide what we wanted based on how we live in our home, not on some arbitrary style, magazine photo or even his own tastes. Then he took our input and came up with just the right design solutions, that also fit within our budget. We would work with him again in a minute, and highly recommend both his architectural design and consultation services. Even if you think you know what you want, Anthony is able to help you tap into a deep level of awareness that might surprise you. It did us!

Tony is flexible, insightful, talented and creative. He knows what he's doing and has the ability to understand the intent behind the words, then translate that into the physical form. He created a detailed conceptual model for me of a resort we'll be building in Italy and did a fantastic job. Highly recommended.
