Apparatus Architecture

We purchased a 1960 Alexander in Palm Springs last fall. In short order, it was clear the house needed a major remodel. It was very important to maintain the midcentury look & feel of the home while modernizing the systems and amenities. Therefore, we retained Apparatus Architecture to provide the critical design consultation for the project. They were mindful of our need to work within a budget while staying true to an upscale aesthetic. Apparatus, particularly Stuart Hills, was able to advise us not only on durable finishes since our house is also a rental property but also help us with furnishings and colors. Most importantly he designed a gorgeous fireplace which now stands as the focal point of our home.

We just completed our second project with Apparatus are very happy with the results. In 2004 we expanded our home. With the help of Apparatus we were able to add a master suite and renovate the existing kitchen and bath. We were on a tight budget and Apparatus was able to repurpose much of our original kitchen. Ten years later we hired Apparatus to help us realize our dream kitchen and we could not be happier. In addition to the two remodels in San Francisco, Apparatus has helped us with furnishings, finishes and system upgrades to our vacation home in Palm Springs. It has been great working with them.

I am now the owner of a sexy, beautiful, chic loft in NoPa thanks to the talent of Apparatus Architecture. Stuart Hills and Michael Baushke have worked with me on two homes, each vastly different from the other. Their versatility in design satisfied every unique challenge with these homes. Their renderings were super helpful to have while projects were underway so I could show friends/family what I was up too. I could not be more pleased with the speed and efficiency in which my homes transformed. I am looking forward to Apparatus Architecture taking on my next project this summer.
