We (Red Pepper Kitchen+Bath) worked with bldg.collective last year. We provided the cabinetry for the kitchen and bathrooms on one of their projects. Their design was extremely detailed and the outcome spectacular. They were always professional and pleasant to work with. I am working with bldg.collective on what is essentially a whole-house remodel of two floors plus basement. Chris and Steve clearly listened to my goals for the remodel, which were to open up the floor plan to make a traditional home more contemporary, take advantage of and bring more natural light into the house, and open up the house to my large and private back yard. More specifically, the walls separating the formal dining room, kitchen and family room are being removed, more sliding doors/windows added, and the ceiling in the family room vaulted. Upstairs, the layout of the master bath and closets and the guest bath are being reconfigured to achieve a more functional layout for the master bath/now walk-in closet as well as to add an upstairs laundry room. As the project evolved, I added a finish to the basement that was destroyed in the 2013 Boulder flood. While I work primarily with Chris, Chris and Steve clearly collaborate with each other on projects, bringing their collective knowledge and expertise to the project. Chris has been very responsive and communicates well with me as well as with other professionals involved in the project (contractor, structural engineer, building department, etc.). Other people involved clearly like working with them, as do I; these are truly likable people, highly competent, committed to their work and their clients, with good values. This is also the kind of professional they bring in to work on the project. Chris is sensitive to my budget, perhaps more than I am, which is a good thing in a project this large. The project time frame has progressed well, including that the plans passed easily through city approval in spite of rigorous requirements. While my project is currently in the middle of construction, I'm incredibly excited about the design and can't wait to see it fully executed!

We hired bldg.collective to design a new house for us. They listened to us and creatively transformed our ideas into a wonderful design of the perfect house for us. The house is open with interesting angles, filled with light, modern and environmentally friendly. They did a great job with everything from siting the house on the lot to maximize views and minimize sight lines of the neighbors, designing all elements of the house, and helping choose creative and interesting interior and exterior materials. The house was designed to meet Boulder County's strict HERS design criteria and includes extra insulation, geothermal radiant floor heating and cooling, and solar panels. They worked very well with us and our builder and his contractors.

I purchased a perfect piece of land in NE Colorado to build my "dream home" on. As I was looking for architects to work on the project I had relatives who were building a new home in the Boulder area. Their house was custom built to their needs and had many unique features. Bldg.collective was the co-architect for a remodel of our 60's ranch house. We worked with Steve. He is great. He knows what he is doing and is super easy to work with. He understood our goals and esthetic quickly, and suggested some fantastic features that we never would have thought of ourselves. He is also a really good communicator - which was important, as we did not understand a lot of construction or architecture jargon. Best of all, bldg.collective was committed to keeping us on budget, and was able to recommend less costly, but still design-conscious alternatives.
