We engaged Sophie Calvin when we bought a parcel of land in Montecito, California where we needed assistance obtaining permits & approvals along with the necessary design and drawings to build a new home. We discovered in the process she has an amazing amount of knowledge covering all the local regulations and how to work most efficiently with the various county departments involved to get it done. She was easy to work with, openly accepting our inputs, in addition to coming up with her own creative ideas along the way. She clearly knows how to get things done in this town and we were impressed with every meeting we had. Although our own time restraints and some health issues did not allow us to finish the project, we have enough experience to know we would hire Sophie again and highly recommend her..

Sophie Calvin, the owner of Calvin Design, has done numerous projects for us both as an architect and consultant. Sophie designed four spec homes for us to be built and sold in Montecito. We gave her design concepts and size parameters. She then designed four unique homes with a common design theme. She nailed it. We were 18 months in design and permits and 18 months in construction. We sold all four homes at a higher price than our original business plan. The project was a grand slam thanks to Sophie. She has a great reputation with the local approval committees and planning department officials. She is the perfect embassary. She thinks fast, she talks fast and she draws fast. All good attributes for a designer.
