We hired Camens Architectural Group to design and project manage the building of our home on Kiawah Island, SC. What struck us most of the "process" Marc and his team use is that they do not draw "cookie cutter" homes. They listen to your passions and present to you concepts based on hours of discussions. Marc's attention to detail and functionality is extraordinary. We learned so much from Marc and his team. They are patient and willing to explain any minor detail you desire to know. Marc talked to us a lot about sight lines in a house. Since we were building our first home we were not quite sure what he meant. As the project unfolded, construction began, and now our home is completed it is very clear to us what he meant. Regardless of where you are in our home the "lines of sight" bring the outside in and connect multiple areas together. The flow of our finished home exceeded our expectations - it is warm and inviting. Marc and his team captured the essence of what we discussed during our meetings and brought to life a home to that truly represents us. We feel that the highest form of recommendation/complement we can provide is to share that at the conclusion of our building process we said we would do it all over again IF we could assemble the same team. We liked Marc Camens from the very beginning, and our fondness only grew throughout the project. He delivered a set of plans for our new house that exceeded our aspirations in all respects. He listened very intently to how we lived and what we wanted to achieve in this project. He was always quick to incorporate our evolving ideas into the design, even when there were major changes. Many times we would watch him quickly sketch what these changes might look like, and then we would discuss. Changes were never a problem. Marc loves designing beautiful moldings and ceilings, and is a master of light. He loves to cook and thus pays a lot of attention to how the kitchen plan functions. How the house flows from room to room is a major consideration for Marc. His ability to work with our builder, the subs and our designer was always cordial, respectful and was fun for us to observe. Even though we are near completion he still visits our house several times a week making sure all the last touches are properly done - like the house was his own.

Camens Architectural Group designed our home on Kiawah. Marc and his staff were extremely successful in understanding what we wanted and translating our visions and needs into our beautiful home. They were always available to discuss the project and had a great relationship with our builder as well as with the community review board. The process of designing and building our home was a pleasure and we would highly recommend them.

We chose Camens Architectural Group to build our new house on Kiawah Island after interviewing several other architects. We had a truly excellent experience from the earliest conception stage when Marc Camens drew circles and ovals on plain paper while we told him what we wanted, through the many revisions as budget and changing desires altered our plans, through the building phase during which Anna Camens Dinger sent us weekly photographs of the house's progress, through all the last minutes alterations that could have been difficult but never were. Working with CAG was a pleasure--honest people, direct, responsive, creative in problem solving. We are delighted with the outcome--just what we wanted, a place with "Camens details" but still very much "our house".

When we were interviewing architects it was difficult to determine who we thought would create the best home for us. However, we were very lucky and hired Camens Architectural Group. Marc created a beautiful home for us. Uniquely Marc spent a great deal of time listening to what we wanted, how we lived, how we entertained, and created a home specifically for us. When we first moved in our home we appreciated the beauty of the design. However, after living in our home for five years the real secret of Marc has unfolded. Our home is perfect when there are two of us in the home. It does not feel big or empty. Our home is also perfect if we have 14+ family and / or friends in the house. It flows easily and does not feel crowded. I believe there are a number of architects on Kiawah that can create a beautiful home. However, there is only one (Marc Camens) that can create a great home that is perfect for two of us, entertaining, or with a house full of family. Marc has unique special skills designing a home that fits your lifestyle AND it will be beautiful.
