Our young family of four moved from the city to renovate our dream home in the country. I have known Tim for almost five years and together we have collaborated on several large residential projects. The one which stands out in my mind is a project which called for a year's work of research into the colonial architecture of Argentina. His ability to assimilate that information and translate that into a stunning design using 21st century technology is an example of why I chose him. Beyond that, however, is Tim's personality which makes these collaborations something I thoroughly enjoy. He is a team player who encourages each member of the team to contribute their knowledge and point of view. The results are always the richer because of it. After years of thinking about renovating our kitchen and making a modest addition to our very old farmhouse we still couldn't see see a solution to make everything really function for us. We knew we needed an architect. Our kitchen needed more storage and functionality, but we also needed a mud room, a laundry/dairy room for the farm and wool business and wanted to add a bathroom on the first floor. Clites Architects (Tim primarily) listened to what we needed and came up with a floor plan that surprised us, and solved all of the problems. It was really exciting…and just a little too big and too much for the little farmhouse. So, Clites revised it for size and cost and continued to work with us to refine the design so it worked perfectly. It's both practical and beautiful and it blends seamlessly with the farmhouse; it feels integral and as if it was always intended to be this way. The exterior not only doesn't look stuck on, it improves and completes the house. Clites helped us select a builder/contractor and then (as we chose) stayed minimally involved, being available as needed and keeping a higher altitude overview of the project. The building of the addition ran into many difficulties along the way, as can be expected with most projects, but even more so with a 1790 farmhouse. Then when we discovered the builder had a financial problem that was threatening to prevent completion and double cost, Clites jumped in and helped us work with the builder and sub-contractors to get the project completed and everyone financially satisfied. It's been finished over a year now and we still are basking in how much we love it and how it completely changed (improved) how we work and move in the house. It was a pleasure working with Clites. I highly recommend them!

My husband and I hired Clites Architects to renovate our second home and make it a home where everyone in the family would want to gather at different times of the year. Tim and John listened to all our ideas about how we wanted the house to work for us. Clites Architects designed a multi-story garage to be added to my 30 year old home. Impeccable attention to detail allowed this addition to my property to be fully integrated into the existing environment. The landscaping was barely finished when friends commented that it appears as though it was part of the original home.
