We engaged Darren Dickerson of Coyote Design for our new mountain retreat dream home overlooking Lake Cle Elum, WA. Darren designed a 3,000 Sq. Ft. house that incorporated Prairie School concepts and the beauty of the surrounding Wenatchee National Forest. We will be building the home in summer 2016. Darren is committed to customer excellence- he worked closely with us, our builder and the local county to ensure we got the optimal design for the house. My wife and I were in need of an architectural layout and plan for a modern-day cabin. Darren at Coyote Design took the time to understand and translate the vision we had and turned that into a reality. He worked with us along the way and educated us where necessary and took our feedback openly. He provided all the work to us (to get the permits) in a timely manner and his work product looked great. On a personal note, This was a home remodel project and the first one I have ever done. I really appreciated that very much and he spent as much time as was needed to make sure I understood what needed to happen. Darren with Coyote Design helped us finish our house plans for a new construction rebuild in the Mountains after a horrific forest fire destroyed our previous home. He came up with ideas and designs that defiantly improved the look of the house interior and exterior! We have beautiful River & Mountain views from our property and we wanted a house that would allow all the Bedrooms as well as the Great Room and Kitchen to capture those views. Darren was very professional, responsive and patient to our needs as we were not the easiest people to work with. We just had so many different ideas on how exactly we wanted our home to look and feel and had a difficult time deciding on the final design. In designing our house, Darren exceeded our expectations in maximizing the scenic views, functionality and comfort of our home in eastern Washington. We gave him a simple wish list -- a three-bedroom house, no larger than about 1,800 square feet, with “lots of light” and views of the surrounding mountains. He gave us an eye-catching home that combines creative use of floor space, ceiling height and windows to bring the outside in. Every room, including the mudroom and laundry room, has a view in a home that offers a stunning great room with foyer, an attractive, easy-to-work in kitchen, a spacious master bedroom and excellent traffic flow throughout. In short, it’s a dream house that reflects the great deal of time and thought Darren put into drawing each and every line.

I've been a Residential Contractor for nearly 30 years specializing in custom home construction and interior trim, design and installation. We hired Darren to help design our most important project, our retirement home, which is a Northwest contemporary nestled on a beautiful waterfront sight in the South Sound. Darren's enthusiasm, knowledge and attention to detail helped fuel our excitement for our project. My only regret is I wish I met Darren earlier in my career. WE LOVE OUR HOME: The idea of designing the perfect house is a daunting task. There are dozens of thought and ideas rolling around in your head that have to be captured and translated into a final plan. On top of this, you don’t get the immediate satisfaction from these design ideas due to the many months it takes to turn them into a physical reality. This is where your Architect comes in. Having this magic ability to translate your dreams into an actionable design and then a physical dwelling is a gift. Darren of Coyote design has this gift. We have lived in our home for over 5 years now and I can honestly say I would NOT change a thing! Noting I was spending a few million dollars on my project, you can probably imagine my tensions were high as we started out with an empty lot and blank slate. Very quickly I could see that Darren got it. In no time the process became fun for my wife and I. We were able to bounce ideas and find pictures similar to samples from this website and Darren would make these ideas reality. Even the “chances” we took turned out to be some of the most satisfying features of our home. The end result was our project came in on time, on budget and most importantly right on the mark.
