David Heide design studio team members played a major design role in converting our dysfunctional kitchen into a sensible space that truly improved the quality and productivity of our kitchen life. For that reason we have consulted with them once again for a whole house design project from the floor up on a new property They have been available by virtual means and by phone when ever needed Their creative design living space direction from color scheme, materials to overall big picture is spot on. “And on the eighth day, God created David Heide Design Studio.” Honestly the best decision I ever could have made! After years of contemplating renovating my 1940 historic home in Minnetonka, and meeting with various design an architect groups, I came across David Heide. In less than five minutes I knew my search was over. David knew more about my house than I did. His enthusiasm and love of architecture and design were unlike anyone I have ever met. A bonus is that he is an absolute riot! He speaks his mind and holds firm to what he believes while guiding the restoration in the right direction. What I admire most about David and his team Michael, Elizabeth, and Chris was their passion and vision to restore and bring my home back to life. We did the entire house and absolutely everything I needed from the contractor, design, fabrics and paint colors were handled through DHDS. To say it was a BLAST is an understatement. The processed evolved and the results only confirmed that going with DHDS was the best decision ever for me. My friends and family just love it!

After searching Chicagoland for a creative and outstanding design/architect studio I found David Heide in Minneapolis. We were and are so impressed with his work that we commuted to Minneapolis, and they commuted to us in Lake Forest, IL. Our older home project (Kitchen, small addition, new bathroom, and family room) is nearing completion. From the builder, to the cabinet maker to the other major subs...they have all commented on what an "incredible" project this is. I am so proud of what we (my husband and I) with David, and Brad have created. It exceeds what I hoped for. So much design where we live is predictable, not very creative, and frankly...oversized...for an older home. David Heide, and Brad Belka are masters of restoration, updating, and renovation of older homes and also building from scratch. They understand human scale, materials, practical details, and fine craftspersonship. And, they know that all these elements count in the big picture. This firm is truly a cut above. I commend them for their innovation, transparency, diligence and cost consciousness. The end result was an exterior entertainment center that has been an absolute joy for us. We love to entertain and always receive numerous compliments for this setting. We hired David, Brad, Michael and the DHD team to remodel our "1920's" living room. The results are phenomenal! Their vision and design talents are second to none. They have been a joy to work with -- professional, enthusiastic, relationship-based. They have an outstanding professional network of artisans tapped to complete our project, from construction, to creation of beautiful historically accurate leaded glass windows, to flooring, to paint and wallpaper, etc. We soon extended our project to the exterior -- designing a beautiful pergola and trellis. Incredible! Now they are helping us choose a new exterior paint scheme for our home, gardening shed and large 'carriage house'. We are so thankful that we found DHD and their network of professionals! Truly the best.

The Studio handled the gut-and-rebuild of my condo from start to finish. Very professional, very responsive, very good ideas and suggestions, very good connections to top notch contractors, and they did a great job of honoring my thematic design thoughts. Fun to work with. Very pleased with the results…an incredibly improved space in which to live. Only caution I’d give concerns costs and money management. The Studio tends to start at the top of the choice range but grudgingly comes down under pressure rather than starting lower and coming up to the point where you’re satisfied. But I’ve passed the dog food recovery phase now and so will give ‘em 5 stars for design and ease of working with them.

We worked with David Heide Design Studio to help renovate and re-design our kitchen in our Southern California home. We weren’t sure what we wanted, but David spent a lot of time asking how we utilized our kitchen and then presented us with a couple of options. In the end we decided upon an entirely new kitchen layout that made much more sense than the current format. David has big-picture thinking and was able to also make some suggestions that integrated the living space connected to the kitchen. He thought of many ways to incorporate function into his beautiful and well thought-out designs in ways that we would have never considered. We found David to have an excellent and keen eye for details, but he always kept in mind the room and the house as a whole, and how everything worked together. We feel such a cohesive thread between all the spaces David helped design for us, we are so happy with the results! The kitchen alone is beyond what we had imagined. We had the greatest experience working with him. He is professional, courteous, efficient, patient and most of all got the job done to our satisfaction. Had high hopes when we started, but it did not work out. Chris is wonderful to work with, the rest of the program was meh. Felt like it was a huge waste of money for what we got. Ended up firing them and going with someone else who actually asked me what kinds of colors and things I liked. What a concept.

David Heide and his team were with us every step of the way through a whole house renovation of a historical home in Saint Paul, MN. Working with them was an absolute pleasure. The David Heide Design team are professional and enjoyable, even through a large, long term project. We worked with DHD for a historical addition and restoration of our 1908 home with architectural provenance and we could not be happier with the results. They accommodated our desire for historical harmony and modern amenities, coupled with family friendly design. Our home is beautiful, comfortable and functional at the highest level. We hired David Heide and Associates for a very modest project, to assist us in choosing flooring and paint for our Midcentury Modern. My husband and I joke that David and his associate, Michael Crull, saved us so much money by not allowing us to make poor choices. Additionally, they were able to tell us the historical features of our house and how best to preserve these features while renovating the house for current times.

I have worked with David, Elizabeth and the entire team for several months and am extremely pleased with their follow up, ideas, and flexibility.
