David Johnston Architects (DJA) has a truly unique dichotomy – the resources, expertise and breadth of a large architectural firm, with a small studio’s personalized experience and individual attention. The Principals are hands-on; from initial site analysis and schematic concept to finished design drawings, construction documentation and administration. Because the DJA team lives, breathes and loves what they do, they are well acclaimed. Clients commend them not only for ingenuity and impeccable design, but for the value and exceptional return on investment. The hearts of builders, contractors and suppliers are won with meticulous attention to detail and support. And real estate brokers adore DJA, for their projects have an outstanding track record and shake the market. Although they travel the world seeking inspiration and insight, Aspen is home for DJA. They honor and respect the Roaring Fork Valley by sourcing materials and partners as locally as possible. With 80% of their projects in the Aspen area this isn’t hard to do. Seeking out projects that vary in size, style and function, David Johnston Architects doesn’t have a “look.” The firm’s portfolio spans styles from American Farmhouse, Contemporary and Colorado Mountain to French Country, Tuscan and English Cottage, and the starting point for all designs is the client’s goals. In addition to residential architecture, David Johnston Architects specializes in full scale land-use planning, connecting developers with projects. I have worked with David, Brian and the whole team at DJA on several projects. They are incredible at what they do. As a builder, I can count on them to provide accurate details and onsite assistance in the construction of their projects. They are artistic, thoughtful and professional in all aspects of their work. I absolutely recommend using them to design your dream!

I've worked with David Johnston's office for a number of years and have always enjoyed the collaboration of the architects on his staff. They are do excellent work and are creative with concepts and very good at the details. David's office can design at a high level in a number of different architectural styles. David gave me one of my first projects in Aspen and we've had a great and lasting working relationship. Our clients have all been happy with the homes DJ's office designed. Some of our homes have graced the cover of significant design magazines in Colorado. I'd recommend them to anyone.

Commented: SpaceIt is about 3'-0" from back of stool to back of chairs as shown, but I believe the photographer pushed the dining room table towards the bar for the photo.
