“I hired this company for a renovation project of my Fifth Avenue apt. It needed to be totally redone. Everything was done in such an efficient manner. The plans were filed with the city and got approval and the renovation was completed with very few problems. Stephen was always available by cell phone to answer any of my concerns. I really felt that my ideas and needs were well integrated into the final design. There were a lot of challenges involved including raising a ceiling in the kitchen, moving walls, lowering a floor in the bathroom entrance (moving pipes), restoring a fireplace that was closed up. The final result is just beautiful with attention paid to every detail. It's not just another cookie cutter apt. Very creative yet functional work created by an extremely talented architect!”

“on behalf of my wife and myself this is to recommend to you Frederic Zonsius as an Architect and Designer. Initially we had hired a local architect to "draft plans" of our new 2000 sq ft addition. However, we just could not decide whether we like it or not or why we were ambivalent about going forward with the design. However upon one meeting with Fred where he developed sketches in front of us, we knew where the shortcomings of the design were and what the resolution should be; suddenly the process was enjoyable again! Fred works within concept which once adopted all decisions down to the colors on the wall become easy to make. We would be happy to recommend him. Despite the distance from Ohio to New York we never felt it to be a problem. His resources from the New York community were extremely beneficial and it was nice to get a fresh outlook that was not local. “I began working with Weil Friedman Architects (specifically, Barbara Friedman) in the Fall of 2012, when I purchased a 3 bedroom, 2 bath, approximately 1750 sq. foot apartment in my current building, anticipating my July marriage and the combination of two families of kids and animals. Time had stood still in the apartment since the 1960s, so this was a total renovation. New kitchen and baths, surfaces, all lighting throughout, built-ins, reconfiguration of the space. From the design and drawing stage, through construction and punch list, Weil Friedman Architects were the consummate professionals. Detail-oriented, never dropped the ball once, always available to answer questions, worked extremely well with the contractors. They are "soup to nuts" architects, participating in everything from choosing stone, fabrics, paint, flooring, cabinetry, and just the right appliances...you get an architect, project manager, designer, decorator, and "seeker and finder of the perfect polished nickel bullet hinge" all rolled into one. They are great to work with, offering ideas while listening to yours. The project finished right on schedule, and that was in no small part due to Weil Friedman's determination and midnight and weekend oil. Not only that, but we finished on budget. Amazing. I wish I had another apartment to renovate just so I can work with them again, and I tell anyone I know who is about to undertake a project, that they should talk to them.”

“Have you done a gut renovation of an apartment from 2500 miles away? We did. The single decision that made the project a success and got us our dream home was working with TUG studios.From concept drawings to choice of contractors to final completion, they were available and responsive. Tom and Goil heard everything we said we wanted for our 2200 sq ft. triplex apartment. They even figured out a lot that we did not say and translated all that into a coherent whole that met with all our many requirements, from fabulous kitchen to LOTS of counter space to flattering lighting plans and color schemes. Most importantly, while not compromising on quality, they paid attention to our budget. The challenge was to make a dark and chopped up apartment with small rooms into a modern airy space. TUG's designs made really radical changes in the floor plan, moving the living room and kitchen from the parlor floor to the second floor and putting two bedrooms and baths where the living room and kitchen had been. If we had to do any kind of design or remodel in future, I would not do it without TUG.”
