Dear reader, It is without hesitation, I would recommend Ms. Chong to anyone looking for a true professional. Ms. Chong used every tool in the interior designers handbook to help design our single family home and coach (laneway) home. Designing a single family home in Vancouver has so many challenges that require attention to detail in design and ongoing bylaws it is hard to imagine navigating the process without Ms. Chong. It was truly a blessing to have Ms. Chong on our team. I cannot overstate her contribution to our project. Ms. Chong not only worked with us throughout out the process in ensuring our building permits were in order and submitted to the city, going beyond the call of duty Ms. Chong would visit the site and follow up with the construction team; architect, geo tech, builder, city planning depts Ms. Chong was always available via a call and or email responses timely throughout the project. For example, during construction a wind storm damaged/split tree in our back yard, I was having some challenges reaching the right person at city hall to evaluate the tree for removal, Ms. Chong contacted City of Vancouver permits team and expediated the permit so we could have the tree removed due to a safety concern. If your looking for someone who takes the time to listen to your your wants and needs and put it all together Donna is the person to tackle your next project. Once again, designing a single family has not been an easy project but I don't think without Ms. Chong on our team, we would not have been able to construct a home that will still be standing a 100 years from now (it is that solidly designed and built) a true generational home. Donna Chong is the consummate professional. She knows her trade well and is aware of her own limitations. However, when she cannot get something done because of those limitations she knows who to contact to get the right answers. She has many contacts in the industry and at the various departments within the City of Vancouver building permits division. She is an eager self-starter who is willing to dig in and try various options to get the job done. She was always responsive to our queries in a timely manner and her pricing is very fair. On top of it all she an extremely pleasant person to deal with.

Donna Chong helped us with a major renovation of an old character home in the Dunbar area. She guided us through the increasingly complicated and lengthy City building & development permit process and handled several obstacles along the way very efficiently and smoothly. She has a calm and competent way of dealing with the City planners, and it is thanks to her that we were allowed to rebuild an existing deck & second floor with 3 bedrooms that were considered "non-conforming". She also provided detailed plans for interior design, including for a complete kitchen remodel, 3 new bathrooms, laundry & basement kitchenette, as well as electrical plans. Donna spent countless hours helping us select fixtures, tiles, flooring and paint colours. She provided many amazing suggestions but was also never offended if we asked for more alternatives or found something else we liked. She continued to stay involved throughout the renovation process and regularly checked in on us. We recommend Donna highly and will miss working with her once our renovation is completely done.

We hired this firm to completely renovate our house from foundation, basement and main floor as well as build an additional second story. The original 1900 SF 70-year old bungalow transformed into a 3400 SF modern home. From architectural concept to completion, Donna Chong Design oversaw every design aspect of construction and delivered beyond the call of duty. Always mindful of our timeline and budget, Donna guided us through the process with expertise, professionalism and unfailing patience. Donna Chong, our interior designer, worked closely with us every step of the way. She took our ideas and transformed them into a beautiful renovation that reflects our personalities. As our families and friends say, “it is really you”. Donna gave us invaluable and practical design advice that made all the difference. For example, she suggested that the sink on our island face the window opening onto our garden because we love our garden. Initially, we had suggested that it face the dining area in our now kitchen/dining room. Every day as we stand at the sink and look out into our garden, we are very grateful for her suggestion. She made the selection of products as simple as possible by ascertaining our general preferences and then getting us various options from which to choose. If we did not like any of the options, she went and selected more for us. We cannot recommend her highly enough. We just love our renovation and she was instrumental in accomplishing that.

I have hired Donna for two renovation projects. The first project included both interior design and floorplan changes for kitchen and two bathrooms. The second project was interior design only, for kitchen and bathroom. Donna has a nice combination of architectural and interior design expertise. I found her very easy to work with, and she is very respectful of the project budget. I would certainly recommend her for similar projects.
