Eric designed our home with an excellent view toward how light would play across the house during the day. It is a beautiful design, minimized hallways, and created a unique space. Eric is super easy to work with and we just love the result. He visited often and answered questions by the builder immediately, reducing the chance for delays, this was very important.

I can't recommend Erik highly enough. My wife and I hired Erik to design our home in Bend, after interviewing several other architects. We could not be happier with Erik's design process, and the final results. A common thread among Erik's reviews is his ability to truly listen and internalize your needs, and then to produce exquisite designs that address those needs. I couldn't agree more. Erik's use of technology to produce 3D renderings enabled us to "walk through" the house during the design phase and was critical to our ability to understand the design in advance of building, and simplified the process of completing the initial design while still living in another state. Erik continued to pay close attention once building commenced until our home was complete, reviewing details and providing guidance. Now that we are actually living in our new home, we are even more deeply impressed with Erik's design. His siting and nuanced placement of windows provide such beautiful internal light and views of sunsets and nature, while maintaining a sense of privacy.

I can't say enough about his design, work ethic and experience. He continues working on the home long after design was complete. He was always there, always available to confirm construction detail and reviews the ongoing construction. He also provided substantial assistance to make up for the shortcomings of our general contractor. He did far more than we expected long after we had paid him in full. I'd give him six stars if it were possible.

We hired Erik to design our home in Shelving Commons and could not be happier with our choice of architects. He was very patient with us as we went through the design stage of our house. He took our input for what we wanted in a design and incorporated it into the final drawings. His attention to detail was impressive. Erik designed our home in Central Oregon and we could not be happier with the final product. We chose Erik after meeting with several other local architects, and the selection was easy. Not only does he listen to his clients, he really works to understand the overall concept you are trying to achieve through questions during meetings and sketches/mock ups. His thoughtful designs take into account your lot, including views and how the sun will change over the seasons. There were multiple interactions where we would describe the type of space we wanted and the next time we met, Erik would bring us the PERFECT design. The technology he uses allows you to virtually to walk through your space and really feel the design. During the build, Erik is frequently onsite and reviewing details and making suggestions. Overall, the experience has shown us how much he cares about our project from the initial concept through final interior design. The relationship feels more like a partnership in design and Erik becomes a friend through the process. Erik really is THE BEST. We would chose him again in an instant.

I have had the pleasure of working with Erik Oldham on several projects over the last 20 years. Erik's thoughtful designs take every inch of space into account, resulting in bright, fun, livable homes. Each time I've worked with him, he has listened to my ideas, refined them and brought them beautifully to life. Our first project was a 100 year old farmhouse that needed updating. Erik created a wonderful two story addition that blended seamlessly into the original house; adding a large kitchen, utility room, half bath and master suite. All of the spaces were warm, inviting and filled with light. Our second project involved reworking the spaces in a small 1940's Sears catalog house. While we didn't expand the footprint of the house, Erik created an airy feeling of openness and space in all of the rooms, while remaining sensitive to the original architecture. Our current home is a tired 1970's split level and I can't wait to see how Erik transforms it!

We hired Erik Oldham to design our custom home in 2012. This was our third custom home and we interviewed several architects with some clarity concerning our needs. We liked the house drawings on his website and were encouraged by his Yale education, but the singular aspect of Erik, which sold us, was his capacity to listen. In a very short period of time, he had determined the scope of our interests and with 3-D interactive imagery, was able to guide us to refine and complete our design. He was able to show us pictures that captured the style of what we liked. Erik differed from the other architects we have worked with, in that he has a background in Fine Arts and an interest in how the interior design and decor will fit. We provided him with the measurements of the furniture, which we wanted to keep, and he made the house fit around them. Erik was proactive throughout the building process and interacted with the builder and subs to clarify and explain what he intended. He also provided the most detailed and exact drawings we had ever seen. This included framing details for every complex joint or change. Erik also helped us with the colors and details for the interior and we have been very happy with them. We are happy to recommend Erik Oldham.
