The most unprofessional person I've had the misfortune of dealing with. Roula Masouras came in yelling to review a bathroom renovation required by the coop - am not exaggerating at all when I say she was yelling. After several minutes of just yelling, I had to ask her to be quiet so I can at least respond to her questions. Anywhere else that kind of tone to a client would get you fired. I had inquired with my coop on how long the review would take & how much it would cost, I was told about 1-1.5 hours. It's a standard Mahattan bathroom (5'x8'). She billed me for 9.5 hours! And of that 3.5 hours for the visit which she spent no more than 10 mins for her 2 visits. Atrocious. DO NOT HIRE THIS UNETHICAL COMPANY that still employs someone like this and follows such practices.

Ethelind is fantastic. She is a real professional -- knowledgeable about every aspect of getting a job done, and a creative problem-solver. She is also easygoing, collaborative, down-to-earth, and fun to work with. Everyone in her shop is top-flight, including her wonderful interior design team.

Ethelind Coblin herself responded immediately to our initial inquiry, understood exactly what needed to be done, oversaw every detail, resulting in a project that was completed in a timely, seamless manner. Her interior designer, Liz Romano, has extraordinary aesthetic sense and has created beautiful rooms, again paying attention to every detail. I recommend highly this firm and these two masters of their crafts.

We feel particularly privileged to have worked with Ethelind on the renovation of a historically significant landmark house in Riverdale. Precise to the point of legend, Ethelind and her team are enthusiastic problem solvers and collaborators.

Under the exceptional leadership of Architect Maria Suri, my Manhattan apartment renovation, which included the living room, dining room and kitchen, was nothing short of FIRST-RATE! At every step of the way, from the creative and functional design- to the utmost attention to detail and schedule, Maria and the staff at Ethelind Coblin, never disappointed with results reflecting the highest quality of service and professionalism. No problem was unsolvable, and my small kitchen was designed in such a fashion that every "wish list" item was incorporated without sacrificing a sleek and spacious look! Coupled with the attentiveness given to my ideas and needs, the ALWAYS responsive and reliable service provided by Maria Suri and the staff of Ethelind Coblin met EVERY standard for EXCELLENCE! I would strongly recommend Ethelind Coblin, without reservation, to anyone looking for a top-notch architectural/design firm. I am only sorry that I cannot give MORE than 5 stars to this outstanding firm!!

I engaged Ethelind Coblin firm to design and oversee the complete renovation of my three bedroom, two bath pre-war apartment. I worked with Ethelind and Roula on the architecture/design/construction oversight elements and primarily with Ethelind and Liz on the interior design. From the start, Ethelind, Roula and Liz spent substantial time with me to get an understanding of the general ideas I had/style I wanted for the apartment and then used that information to put together a design that accomplished everything (and more) than I had been looking for. They made great and unique suggestions on the floor plans, stone, lighting, fixtures, textures, colors and furnishings that fit perfectly with the general ideas I had communicated to them. During both the architecture/interior design and construction management phases of the project, Ethelind and her team were incredibly detail orientated and dogged in making sure my project was done exactly as envisioned. And, their guidance in picking a contractor (Ari Group, Inc.) and the relationship between Ethelind and her team and the contractor was invaluable. They were extremely professional, friendly and responsive and the attention to detail that they put into every aspect of the project shows in the quality of the final result and the fact that the project was completed with de minimis cost increases to the original construction budget. Overall, Ethelind, Roula and Liz made the entire design and completion of my project an enjoyable experience. I greatly enjoyed working with them throughout the entire process. I give Ethelind, Roula and Liz the highest marks for their professionalism, level of service and the quality of their work and strongly recommend them to anyone in need of an architect/interior designer for their renovation project. If I ever have another renovation project I would only work with Ethelind and her team.

Ethelind and her team planned and supervised a rather extensive renovation of a pre-war upper west side apartment that I purchased in estate condition. They listened to my ideas, and followed through with suggestions that helped me improve my original concepts. They were respectful of my budget and my time, but were always available to communicate and explain. If I had a problem, they kept working on the issue until I was satisfied. Ethelind came up with elegant solutions to practical problems (ductwork, beams, etc. arrgghh.) and sophisticated aesthetic designs (new fireplace surround and mantel). She consulted me as much as I wanted to be consulted, and efficiently used the junior members of her team to keep costs under control. She used knowledgeable and proficient workrooms and contractors. I am gearing up to do some minor refreshing of the project (which is now several years old) and am looking forward to working with Ethelind and her team again.

Ethelind and her team were outstanding architects on our home renovation, which posed numerous technical challenges owing the the building's age (1906) and landmark status. She was patient and thoughtful in creating designs that met our needs while understanding our desire to be minimally destructive of the orignal layout and retain all pre-war details and ceiling heights, while also keeping to a restricted budget. The end result could not be better from our persepctive. She and her team were attentive throughout the process including the follow through to monitor the GC implementation and address a few unforeseeable construction challenges that arose along the way. Even after the fact I have contacted Etheline's office on issues unrelated to the project and they have been responsive and helpful.

Combined two apartments into one. Ethelind and Roula did an excellent job creating hidden storage space and making the apartment appear spacious and light, with clean lines. They found beautiful stones, woods, and tiles, and they worked well with the contractor to ensure that their vision was realized. I would definitely hire them again!
